god such a weird movie. even for lynch its on its own level of bizarreness. watching it feels like having severe brain damage or something

28if 02-16-2010 03:35 AM

as i said in the other thread, this movie is probably my favorite lynch besides twin peaks. i actually think it's one of his more accessible. eraserhead is possibly the strangest movie i've ever seen.

I'm watching twin peaks right now on hulu. Midway through the second season. good stuff, can't wait to watch fire walk with me afterward even if it isn't as good

My fav lynch is inland empire. I dunno what but something about that movie haunts me

28if 02-16-2010 03:57 AM

fire walk with me is totally as good as twin peaks, it's just all lynch and therefore super weird and inaccessible. also, it was supposed to be five hours and he had to cut it down to two.

the show was really screwed by the network, although david lynch was an excessive dick about it. there are like four episodes in the second season that are immensely painful to watch, but the show redeems itself at the end in the black lodge. classic lynch.

If you really like the show you will probably really like Fire Walk With Me. It's been made out to be terrible, but it's actually pretty good.

well most lynch movies are so blatently avant garde the weirdness feels natural regardless of how weird it gets. but with blue velvet it's like your standard late 70s/80s movie yet the narrative takes all these non sequitor turns. just makes for a bizzare experience. i'm still not sure what to make of the film

I don't know if you have ever seen Eraserhead but there is nothing "natural" about it.

null123 02-16-2010 03:11 PM

right. it shows its surrealist character right from the first scene so it's not as unnerving as blue velvet.

Order 66 02-16-2010 03:27 PM

That's what I'm saying with something like eraserhead the whole thing is wtf. blue velvet is like a relatively normal movie interspersed with all these abrupt wtf moments

do you know what equipment you use? were you given a choice of masks/machines to use or did they just give you the stuff and say 'here you go'?

just curious since i work with these things.

redbreegull 02-16-2010 06:01 PM

I just don't recall at any point while watching Blue Velvet thinking to myself, "hey this is actually a pretty normal movie."

I have an air blower/humidifier by a company called Resmed which I'm happy with, but I need to get another mask. The one I have is what I wore for my last sleep study, but it's too tight/not comfortable

redbreegull 02-17-2010 02:49 AM

my dad has sleep apnea but it's because he is fat as shit
