You can't claim that they are the most influential bands of the last fifty years that is completely asinine. Saying they had huge effects on other bands isn't the same as 'most influential band of the last fifty years'.

Do you even know what music was like fifty years ago?

This thread got angry.

Eric Blair 11-17-2009 09:54 AM

Well thanks for posting about it to let us all know, now we can do something about it

talk show host 11-17-2009 09:55 AM

QED

Eric Blair 11-17-2009 09:57 AM

QED makes absolutely no sense in this context whatsoever

talk show host 11-17-2009 10:04 AM

Yeah it does.

Eric Blair 11-17-2009 10:10 AM

What? QED means the last statement deduced was the one that was to be demonstrated. You should really stick to using terms you know the meaning of.

talk show host 11-17-2009 10:13 AM

Oh good lord.

Eric Blair 11-17-2009 10:14 AM

Oh I guess you really got me here. Well done.

publius clodius 11-17-2009 03:36 PM

Eric Blair 11-17-2009 06:45 PM

publius clodius 11-17-2009 07:09 PM

maybe that's just what i want you to believe

quod erit demonstrandum

Eric Blair 11-17-2009 07:17 PM

oh good lord

Eric Blair 11-17-2009 08:52 PM

Yeah I guess 42 is the same as 50

slunken 11-17-2009 08:58 PM

What about music from before 50 years ago?

Eric Blair 11-17-2009 09:01 PM

I can understand people saying this stuff about the Velvet Underground by the way, but the Pixies were hardly pioneers and made pretty straightforward pop. Shoegaze is a pretty niche genre too so talking in such grandiose terms about these bands is kind of inappropriate in my opinion and criticising people for not liking them is ridiculous.

slunken 11-17-2009 09:03 PM

Never tell anyone you like Wayne King in England.

WHAT THE FUCK HAS THIS GOT TO DO WITH "GETTING INTO" A BAND.

you're trying to prove a completely different point

I find this statement baffling.

It is kind of like saying "most rock except for Sonic Youth"
