yeah every once in a while something comes along that makes you realize how much time has passed. i get a little weirded out sometimes when i click on a "related threads" link, and it's a thread from seven or so years ago, and eulogy is posting.. he was but a child!

sometimes it's hard to distinctly remember certain years. the landmarks i try to use are where i was living, what job i had, and what girl i was focused on

i've tried to forget middle school as much as possible

is middle school what we call primary school here?
we get junior primary, senior primary and high school.

all this middle, sophomore, freshman shit always confuses me.

the way it worked for me

elementary school is grades 1 - 4
middle school is grades 5 - 8
highschool is grades 9 - 12

within highscool, 9 is freshman year, 10 is sophomore year, 11 is junior year, 12 is senior year.

some systems say junior highschool instead of middle school, and in some systems the years vary a little bit, i think

so being junior year in highschool is different than being in junior high school.

in the US you're around 11-13 years old in middle school

It's strange how different it is to ours, which I assume is based on some kind of English / Dutch system, I dont really know, but for us the divisions are:
Primary School - Grade 1 - 7
High School - Grade 8 - 12
Junior Primary schools handle Grade 1 - 3, but a lot of 'primary' schools just do the grade 1 - 7 story.
There is no specifics in High School, except we call the final year 'Matric' here.
If you finished grade 12 people say, 'Hey, you matriculated!'
