but she suddenly went blind about a month ago :(. Apparently glaucoma is very common in basset hounds and she suddenly lost sight in both eyes. All of a sudden her eyes started looking cloudy so she was brought to her vet who told us that it was most likely a bacteria infection and gave her eye drops. One week later she went blind in her right eye. After a months worth of weekly injections in her good eye by a canine eye specialist we were all optimistic that her left eye would be ok and then overnight she went blind. It is devastating and she might have to be put down :(.

:(

So...if you notice any problems or changes in her eyes bring her to an animal hospital / canine eye specialist immediately and do not waste time with a regular vet.

:(

Fuck...I will...he's only six months old, but I will pay attention to that. I'm sorry to hear about your Basset Hound.

why would you have to put the dog to sleep? :( I have pet-sat a coworkers blind lab... he still tried to get me to play fetch... I felt bad because I'd throw the ball (not very far) and he'd run into shit trying to fetch it. he was having a blast though.

Joe 10-13-2009 12:49 AM
