Did you guys know that in 1848 the US waged war against the Mormon population in Utah? The Mormons apparently thought the army was going to massacre all of them (which they obviously weren't) and formed one of the best trained militias in American history. Apparently there was some sort of stand-down but the armies never clashed.

The only major casualties were 150 innocent settlers trying to get to California that the Mormons FUCKED UP. I guess they killed all of them, men/women/children/whatever.

On a semi-related note, apparently the year before the civil war broke out one senator beat another senator into unconcsciousness IN THE SENATE CHAMBERS. A third senator waved a pistol at people trying to break them up shouting "LET THEM BE! LET THEM BE!"
