"New" Official Watchmen Film Montage

Not sure when it was posted, but I found this tonight, they use The Beginning is the End is the Beginning again...

*Note this is not the trailer that appeared before the Dark Knight

The Scream Awards one. Good trailer, flick should also be good EVEN THOUGH THEY GODDAMN TOOK OUT THE GODDAMN SQUID!!! You make one of the most accurate, literal adaptations ever of Watchmen then lose the squid? Come on!!

If this is going to be an accurate and literal adaption, than they're asking enough out of casual moviegoers to begin with. The whole squid storyline would be too much and would probably be laughed at. Judging from the trailers, they're going with a nuclear assault type ending (just my opinion from the trailers) which will probably be taken a lot more seriously than a giant "alien psych-bombing squid". My expectations for this film are high and I'm hoping the new ending plays just as well as the graphic novel, if not better. Kind of like how I think the ending for Fight Club was 100Xs better than the novel's ending. But this is just me speculating.

let's hope it's chemical instead of nuclear

Eh, given how quickly the world was going through changes since Dr. Manhattan's arrival, I guess it wouldn't have seemed completely far fetched to the general public of 1985 in the Watchmen universe. Kinda like, "Oh, everything that happens these days seems to turn out weirder than before, and this is just continuing the trend."

I think the idea is to replace the squid with a bomb Ozymandias builds that mimics Dr. Manhattan's powers (notice the blue blast in the trailer?) and use him as a scapegoat to unite the world. Of course I wonder if the world would really be stupid enough to try to take him on...

man this movie has a lot of hype behind it!

I could see that. Dr. Manhattan's blamed for giving folks cancer, so he supposedly comes back to Earth to retaliate. Therefore, Veidt's given the public more reason to fear him. And this is also assuming Jon ditches Earth for good at the end like in the book, so he doesn't have to worry about answering to anyone for what he hasn't really done.

Yeah, but wouldn't the USSR still be pissed off at America even if their blue superman went and blew up everyone? The outside "alien" threat gives the world a reason to unite behind something.

I just wanted to see the squid. It's trippy as all get out. That and there'd probably be a ton of expository time to explain the squid if Synder actually cut back on his pointless slo-mo fetish.
