mine is december 20th at a restaurant but im not going because we have to pay for ourselves. i mean, i dont mind paying for myself under any other circumstance but every other person ive spoken to says their place of work is paying for each person or having just a party for everyone to come and have fun. like i've said before... i work with a bunch of uptight cunts. every week it's someone in mgmt's birthday and we have to hear them cackle all damn day and watch them stuff their fat faces with cake/icecream/pizza/whatever. they cant spell for shit, either. i'd rather go eat somewhere else that night with a friend. or my boo.

Mine is in our office. There are only about 9 people in the department, and we are a public institution, so nothing fancy. Everyone brings something in. It's incredibly not worth doing, except for the food.

I have 2 parties next weekend. One is my company's party which is Friday at the local yacht club. The other is hosted by our head surgeon and its at his house - its a traditional Swedish smorgasbord. I am intrigued by that one...

How in the hell could a man enjoy being awakened at 6:30 a.m. by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, shit, piss, brush teeth and hair, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so?

My company's Christmas dinner thing was on Wednesday. My boss is an idiot and picked a really overpriced place that is essentially a fancy buffet. Additionally, none of us live anywhere even remotely near it (there are like a dozen employees). It was 30 minutes from the place of work, which I live right by, but some people had to drive a full hour to get there because they live 30 minutes in the opposite fucking direction of where we work.

OMG XMAS

WAR ON CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!

srsly though, my company is wack this year. they have been doing hella renovations on the place for the last two years, so there's been a few budget cuts all aound.

they have it at the same place, a hotel downtown, but it's all cash bar and i don't think very many people are going. i'm certainly not. i was going to, but decided against it and i'm using the day to get some stuff done, which includes checking out a new place to live.

last year we went to a swank bowling ally, billiards, restaurant deal. booze, food, fun everywhere, it was awesome.

this year, we staying in the office, and it will be catered with cheap food and there is "committee" that is planning games.

i'd rather just work.

shannon 12-12-2008 02:38 PM

Mine is tonight and I am not attending.

yeah this is the first company i've worked for where we actually get good shit for a party. i previously worked at a place where we had shitty draws for $10 starbux gift cards and maybe some triangle sandwiches. bunk as fuck.

my fiance works for an architechture firm that was just acquired by an even bigger one, and they had this huge party at circa which is this insane nightclub where you can't find anyone and had draws for fuckiing plasma tvs and ipods and shit and i shook my fist at him for not getting us tickets. we're going to the smaller company's party next thursday and those have been pretty great in the past.

oh and mine is on thursday at this fancy new room at the north end of the texas football stadium

Travis Meeks 12-12-2008 08:58 PM

Mine is on January 10th which is lame since by that time I want nothing to do with the holidays. We have a nice dinner, open bar, and play casino games with fake money.

I'd rather get trashed in AC and play craps for real.

sickbadthing 12-12-2008 09:17 PM

not going, working, don't care

i went to one last weekend and it was in a couple of bars and it was loud and annoying and there wasn't much food.

When I worked at a hotel that had a large catering hall we would have our Christmas party in January because our rooms were always booked for othert parties in December.

i went tonight to a female friend's office holiday party, she works for a hedge fund. last year was their best year ever, and they gave everyone ipod touches. this year is their worst year ever, and the woman who arranged the party apparently wasn't aware of that and it was $430 a head. they had chefs cooking lobster tails to order, along with every other type of ridiculous food such as kobe mini burgers and butterfish and oysters and sushi and every kind of alcohol imaginable. apparently the arranger is going to lose her job over it

Sonic Johnny 12-13-2008 05:33 AM

Mine is next friday. It's mandatory and it's $80 (BOOOOOOOO!) but it includes a speedboat ride up the river which should be fun.

That sounds illegal.

bardy 12-14-2008 06:54 PM

photos from my office party can be found in the pic post

we usually attend a big one in the bay area, but the company felt bad about spending 50g on a party when people around them were losing their homes and jobless... so they canceled taht party and donated the money to charity. We had a nice local party at a hotel. nothing fancy, but it was fun and we got to dress up.
