The St. Paul Saints, a minor league baseball team in Minnesota, are making a change to the bobblehead doll.During a May 25 promotion, the Saints will give out a bobblefoot to the first 2,500 fans. While not directly attaching Sen. Larry Craig's name to the promotion, the team says it will honor "tappers" during Sunday's game. The bobblefoot is a replica of a bathroom stall, with a foot peeking out of the bottom. The Saints said in a statement that the foot "'taps' up and down."

Last year, Craig pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct after allegedly soliciting sex from an undercover police officer in a Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport restroom. Craig allegedly signaled that he wanted sex by tapping his foot in the stall. The Saints are releasing the bobblefoot in coordination with National Tap Dance Day."It doesn’t matter if your tapping style is done with a 'wide stance' or is used as some sort of code, the Saints are asking all fans to tap to their heart’s content on May 25," the Saints said in a statement.

Pretty funny but shows absolutely no class. Really doesnt seem like something a baseball team should do.

commando 05-23-2008 05:47 PM

As a native Idahoan, I think it's awesome. That dick should have resigned no questions asked.

hnibos 05-23-2008 05:59 PM

what exactly makes him a dick again?

commando 05-23-2008 06:08 PM

Read a paper.

You don't know the St. Paul Saints, then.

I wouldn't say it's classless so much. (Face it, Craig deserves all the ridicule he has coming to him.) But the timing of it does seem to be a little weird. Wouldn't this kind of promotion been a little more relevant and topical last season?

Notable promotions

In an attempt to gain publicity in a metropolitan area that hosts four major pro sports teams and a major college program, the Saints have grabbed headlines numerous times for their unique promotions.[1]

  • In August, 2007, the Saints announced that rubber dog toys would be given out as a jab to the federal dogfighting case involving Atlanta Falcons' quarterback Michael Vick.[2]

  • In April 2006, the Saints announced that rubber boats would be given out during a May 27, 2006 game, ostensibly to honor 30th anniversary of the television show The Love Boat. However, details of the promotion indicate that it is intended as a jab at the 2005 boat scandal involving the Minnesota Vikings, where several members of the team were allegedly involved in illicit behavior on a private cruise. The promotional rubber boats use the same color as the Vikings uniforms (purple and yellow) and are named Minnetonka Queen (a reference to Lake Minnetonka, where the cruise took place).[1]

  • In August 2003, the Saints held "Randy Moss Hood Ornament Night", poking fun at the Viking's wide receiver Randy Moss. Earlier that year, Moss was involved in an incident where he bumped a traffic control officer with his car while he attempted to make a turn.[1]

  • During the 2002 Major League Baseball labor negotiations, the Saints gave away seat cushions with pictures of commissioner Bud Selig on one side and player's association Executive Director Donald Fehr on the other.[1]

  • In 2002, in response to Selig's controversial decision to end the MLB All-Star Game in a 7-7 tie, the Saints gave out neckties (or "ties") with Bud Selig's image.[1]

Perhaps, but the season was over when the news went public.

Larry Craig, a married man, solicits sex in a bathroom stall, gets caught and cops to it... then changes his story and tries to get away with it with the dumbest, most unbelievable lie possible. He's like a 6 year old getting caught stealing cookies and saying cookie monster took 'em. He's an embarrassment to his constituents, his party, his state, and the country.

On the other hand, I'm sure this is normal behavior and it's just my "great religious morals' that make this in any way objectionable to me.

Nimrod's Son 05-23-2008 07:41 PM

I do find it funny that many of the same people who demand Craig leave office are the same ones who defend Clinton with "it was only a blowjob!"

Future Boy 05-23-2008 11:06 PM

Thats funny, I thought Republicans were mainly the ones trying to get him out of office.

So I guess they're at least consistent. To some extent.

thats the only one ill give you. i dont consider him an asswipe for being a fag or for cheating.

commando 05-27-2008 08:43 PM

He can be a fag and cheat all he wants... but he doesn't get to break the law while doing so, admit it then deny it, disgrace his state in the process, and still get to be my senator. You make too many assumptions at why someone would be pissed at Larry Craig. It's your anti-religious bias that's showing.

The point of contention is that he's backed homophobic legislation in the past. Nobodys making fun of this guy becuase it matters to them. They do it because aparently it matters to him.
