Naomi Watts' new movie "Funny Games"

This looks pretty good. Maybe the first great movie of the year.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0808279/

Two psychotic young men take a family hostage in their cabin.

The first great movie of the year was The Hottie and the Nottie.

metal 02-26-2008 10:47 PM

it breaks the fourth wall, of characters speaking directly to the audience.

this will either be pretty cool or terrible.

Catherine Wheel 02-26-2008 11:18 PM

I really liked Pitt in The Dreamers and Murder By Numbers. Hope this is as good as those. I couldnt get into that one where he was playing the Kurt Cobain type guy. I think it was called Last Days. It seems like he just mumbled through the whole film.

Shapan 02-26-2008 11:23 PM

i think the direction in last days sucked more than pitt's acting.

topleybird 02-26-2008 11:24 PM

There is no reason whatsoever not to watch the original by the same director

This is a shot-for-shot remake as I understand it

Which is normally filmic obscenity, but after you watch the original you'll understand why Haneke likely welcomed the chance to get more Americans to see it

p.s. it's good

Brilliant movie [at least the original was]. Stupid American remakes.

i still wanna see it. just because i want to see how naomi watts pulls it off.

Love the original and love Haneke. Thought it was a joke at first that he was going to do an american remake of one of his own films. Now I'm intrigued to see the result.

Usually the rest of the world watches the US movies either dubbed, subtitled or in English, and they love them because America is awesome and knows how to make great movies. Here in the US though we don't want to watch your foreign Hitler propaganda shit films because we can remake it better with more realistic effects and better actors
