Dawn to Dusk vs Twilight to Starlight

im sure this has been done to pieces but still, i think the Twilight blows the other one away completely

muzzled4life 02-19-2008 04:25 AM

Twilight to Starlight....especially the live versions of those songs i.e. We Only Come Out at Night, Beautiful, Lily, Farewell goodnight(especially when James and D'arcy sing)...and theres still plenty of rock otherwise.

NothingSafe 02-19-2008 04:51 AM

Twilight to Starlight definitely, it has ruby, 1979, by starlight, WBFTT...that's obviously something that can't be defeated.

wilch 02-19-2008 04:54 AM

yeah its hard to compete with TTEOR by starlight beautiful Farewell & Goodnight Bodies 1979 In the arms of sleep XYU TOASE etc. only song i find meh is Lily

on the other hand disc one there is take me down, fuck you is meh too galapagos only 30 seconds are good porcelina i dont think its that great, BWBW chorus blows zero gets old etc

Liffey 02-19-2008 05:25 AM

really tough but I chose disc 1 because i think galapagos->muzzle->porcelina is the best three songs in a row ever.

bogopogo 02-19-2008 08:45 AM

In the arms of sleep, bodies, 1979, xyu, by starlight - there is no contest!!

clearly. what self-respecting fan would choose Dawn To Dusk? none, i'd say.

amar0331 02-19-2008 09:19 AM

Yeah, I'll change my vote from disc one to disc two. Completely forgot about bodies.

IWishIWasBlank 02-19-2008 09:44 AM

Done circa 1995. Go out. Get sunshine. Meet people.

wilch 02-19-2008 01:14 PM

says the guy with over 2000 posts...

i_adore_adore 02-19-2008 05:01 PM

Although I prefer Porcelina to Ruby (the two "epics" that are constantly compared), I picked Twilight to Starlight.

Bodies > 33 > In the Arms of Sleep > 1979 > TOASE > Ruby > Stumbleine > XYU

Best 8 songs in a row ever. EVER.

Ever 02-19-2008 10:20 PM

Where's the wussy "they're both winners" which I wanna choose.

unlachs 02-19-2008 10:37 PM

porcelina makes me think twice, but WBFTT - TOASE is godly

CrabbMan 02-20-2008 02:35 AM

WBFTT into Bodies is the best opening to a CD ever. . . it just goes on to get better. That disc is a fucking trip. And I will consider my life a failure if I don't come up with a decent arrangement for Tales of a Scorched Earth on the acoustic; that song has some hardcore delicate beauty to it.

areyougaffney? 02-20-2008 08:33 AM

nothing really at fault with dawn to dusk. Some extraordinary songs but twilight to starlight wins hands down. Brilliant 14 songs, that run together really well.

slappyspank33 02-20-2008 11:37 AM

Tea time.

wilch 02-20-2008 01:28 PM

wow 17 votes for disk 1 yet none of them dare to comment?

somaziro 02-20-2008 02:01 PM

I voted for disk 1, I think disk 1 gets overlooked because several of the good songs were singles and so people are sick of hearing them. Disk 2 is great, but Disk 1 gets my vote. It has my favorite solo on it (Here is no Why) and my favorite song (JellyBelly), so that boosts it over Disk 2. But I have no problems with the people who voted for Disk 2, to me it was close.

:banging:

Pretty much my thoughts exactly.

Eye 02-21-2008 03:55 AM

I am not really sure what disk I would choose, even after all these years. Some of my favorite Pumpkins tracks are on both discs.

morecowbell 02-21-2008 11:04 AM

definitely twilight to starlight. (i accidentally left dawn to dusk in a rental car recently.)

sweetanthony 02-21-2008 11:29 AM

Dawn to Dusk. Openings? You wanna talk openings? The opening to MCIS IS MCIS>TT. The flow of MCIS>TT, JellyBelly, Zero, HINW, BWBW, ToForgive, FUCK YOU. Changes lives. Period.

Then (mentioned above) Galapagos>Muzzle>Porcelina. Can't beat it. I love Twilight and actually listened to it for the first time in years, yesterday, but you have to be in quite a dark mood to listen to it. D2D brings the rock, hard. Other than ToForgive, which is probably the darkest SP song this side of InTheArmsofSleep. I'm rambling... but I think the real ringer here is FUCK YOU. Puts D2D over the top.

Best 8 songs in a row ever. EVER.

Cherub Rock > Quiet > Today > Hummer > Rocket > Disarm > Soma > Geek USA > Mayonaise > Spaceboy > Silverfuck > Sweet Sweet > Luna

oh shit

i_adore_adore 02-22-2008 05:30 PM

Siamese Dream is boring compared to Mellon Collie. Cherub Rock isn't all that great, Today is one of the most overrated SP songs of all time, Silverfuck is only exciting live. The rest are good songs, most of them great, but they don't compare to the wonder of Mellon Collie.

Just my opinion.

i don't get too excited about Cherub Rock or Today anymore either. but then just start at Hummer. Hummer through Mayonaise is easily the best multi-song stretch in the pumpkins catalog.

and the studio Silverfuck is sweet.

in summary, your opinion is wrong.
