I'm fucking loving that Black Kids EP that's on their website.
|
I'm going to this for sure.
|
Fuck yes!! Pearl Jam, Metallica, Ben Folds, Sigur Ros, BB King, Willie Nelson, MMJ, Allman Bros, Broken Social Scene, Rilo Kiley, Iron & Wine., Raconteurs, Ladytron, ...
But fuck no I can't go this year :( We're expecting a baby boy in June. |
"according to a roo board member, these are the late night's...
Sigur Ros, MMJ, Ghostland, Kanye/Talib/Lupe, and 3 others that we be announced in Round 2 (LCD, fatboy slim, mark ronson)." " |
That's a really, really fucking awesome lineup.
|
i'm kinda meh about the headliners (saw both PJ and Metallica during what I consider their respective haydays), but think overall the lineup is strong. i am still attending this year, regardless....just based on how much fun we had last year.
the real bizzarre thing is that after the o-site posted the line-up, both NME and the Associated Press said Led Zepplin was headlining. Elaborate hoax? Red herring? Plain old screw up? WTF? http://www.nme.com/news/led-zeppelin/34129 (dead link now) http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5j...i_j0wD8UKK3O80 --------------------------------------------- Edit: looks like they both have posted retractions. here is a screen cap of the original article NME had up: http://www.thedailyswarm.com/headlin...bonnaroo-2008/ The AP link above is still good, but here is there updated article: http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5j...i_j0wD8UKKBM00 |

Too bad this thing is in the middle of nowhere.
|
Wow I actually love this line up. I'm tempted to actually go this year. Not just good bands but bands that are really great with large crowds. I know people love bashing Metallica but every time I have seen them live they put on a great show. I imagine BSS would be really great with a big crowd. But 4 days seems like it would get tedious really quickly.
|
looks a bunch better than coachella at first glance.
|
you should go rider....4 days isn't bad at all, as long as you don't mind roughing it a little. they usually do a good job of staggering the lineup to keep all 4 days interesting.
|
The music is only about 40% of what makes Bonnaroo great. It was the best experience of my life, for real.
Anyway, I'm super excited for: Battles The Sword Mastodon Sigur Ros Kanye/Talib/Lupe My Morning Jacket Against Me! M.I.A. Zach Galifinakas |
so i was thinking i might actually want to go
and then i realized i'm not going to be around damn. |
two gallants will rock your hippie faces!!
|
Booya.
This'll be nuts. |

I'll want/try to see:
!!! Against Me! The Allman Brothers Band The Bluegrass Allstars featuring Luke Bulla, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer Broken Social Scene Levon Helm & The Ramble on the Road Gogol Bordello Iron & Wine Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings B.B. King Little Feat Metallica M.I.A. My Morning Jacket Willie Nelson Pearl Jam Robert Plant & Alison Krauss The Raconteurs Robert Randolph’s Revival Rilo Kiley Sigur Ros Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi’s Soul Stew Revival Two Gallants Umphrey’s McGee Yonder Mountain String Band I'd love to see David Cross, Zach G. and Brian Posehn, but if the comedy tent lines are anything like they have been, no thanks. I'd rather see music. I wish they'd bring the playground back. |
I just can't believe Metallica is a headliner at Bonnaroo. All is lost...no more 'roo for me.
If we hit any up this year it'll be All Good. I'd like to go to 10KL sometime too. |
Oh yeah, and Kanye West. Shoot me in the face. Worst crowd yet. Have fun living with Metallica fans for 3 days.
|
People were all nervous with Tool last year and shit was fine. This'll be no different.

I felt like it was the worst crowd at any fest I've been to (even including DMB fans at Bonnaroo '05)...a lot less friendlier. A lot of people we talked to felt the same way and said this was their last Bonnaroo. And yes, ciGarski, I'd live with hippies anyday. They're friendly, they share...and they're generally very chill. Other than the lineups, this is why I go to music fests. |
But that's cool if other people are gonna enjoy the fest now and it's gonna be like another Coachella with a little bluegrass mixed in. It's just not for me...

I had a great time last year, really. No complaints. |
I thought Kanye was terrible at Lolla a couple years ago, so it's safe to say I won't be going to his set. But I'm actually looking forward to seeing Metallica again. I don't think I'd pay to see them on their own these days, but the couple times I've seen them previously have been real fun, and I don't expect this one to be much different.
|
Have fun waiting for a couple hours to get in.
|
Seems an awful waste of time to just wait when there's a ton of other things to see/hear at the same time.
I think the comedy tent is open when headliners are playing. Should be fun to see how long the line is before Metallica plays. |

Oh, heh. For that, plan on being in your car while moving slowly on the side of the road for 3-4 hours. You may get lucky and get in sooner, but don't plan on it. If your car has problems with overheating and/or the cooling system, don't bring it. |
