I'm fucking loving that Black Kids EP that's on their website.

redbull 02-06-2008 01:31 AM

I'm going to this for sure.

yoshinobu's revenge 02-06-2008 01:57 AM

Fuck yes!! Pearl Jam, Metallica, Ben Folds, Sigur Ros, BB King, Willie Nelson, MMJ, Allman Bros, Broken Social Scene, Rilo Kiley, Iron & Wine., Raconteurs, Ladytron, ...

But fuck no I can't go this year :( We're expecting a baby boy in June.

redbull 02-06-2008 02:08 AM

"according to a roo board member, these are the late night's...

Sigur Ros, MMJ, Ghostland, Kanye/Talib/Lupe, and 3 others that we be announced in Round 2 (LCD, fatboy slim, mark ronson)." "

The Gaddrow 02-06-2008 02:21 AM

That's a really, really fucking awesome lineup.

davin 02-06-2008 02:56 AM

i'm kinda meh about the headliners (saw both PJ and Metallica during what I consider their respective haydays), but think overall the lineup is strong. i am still attending this year, regardless....just based on how much fun we had last year.

the real bizzarre thing is that after the o-site posted the line-up, both NME and the Associated Press said Led Zepplin was headlining.
Elaborate hoax? Red herring? Plain old screw up? WTF?

Edit: looks like they both have posted retractions. here is a screen cap of the original article NME had up:

The AP link above is still good, but here is there updated article:

that would be cool. i was noticing a certain lack of musique electronique.

Nate the Grate 02-06-2008 03:11 AM

Too bad this thing is in the middle of nowhere.

Rider 02-06-2008 05:24 AM

Wow I actually love this line up. I'm tempted to actually go this year. Not just good bands but bands that are really great with large crowds. I know people love bashing Metallica but every time I have seen them live they put on a great show. I imagine BSS would be really great with a big crowd. But 4 days seems like it would get tedious really quickly.

Shapan 02-06-2008 07:53 AM

looks a bunch better than coachella at first glance.

davin 02-06-2008 10:38 AM

you should go rider....4 days isn't bad at all, as long as you don't mind roughing it a little. they usually do a good job of staggering the lineup to keep all 4 days interesting.

Dogfighter28 02-06-2008 02:39 PM

The music is only about 40% of what makes Bonnaroo great. It was the best experience of my life, for real.

Anyway, I'm super excited for:

Battles
The Sword
Mastodon
Sigur Ros
Kanye/Talib/Lupe
My Morning Jacket
Against Me!
M.I.A.
Zach Galifinakas

Eulogy 02-06-2008 02:55 PM

so i was thinking i might actually want to go

and then i realized i'm not going to be around

damn.

wHATcOLOR 02-06-2008 03:00 PM

two gallants will rock your hippie faces!!

AndySlash 02-06-2008 03:38 PM

Booya.

This'll be nuts.

Bah. Say what you will about their current output, but both bands continue to put on strong, strong shows.

AndySlash 02-06-2008 04:02 PM

I'll want/try to see:

!!!
Against Me!
The Allman Brothers Band

I'd love to see David Cross, Zach G. and Brian Posehn, but if the comedy tent lines are anything like they have been, no thanks. I'd rather see music.

I wish they'd bring the playground back.

KrazeeStacee 02-09-2008 02:02 PM

I just can't believe Metallica is a headliner at Bonnaroo. All is lost...no more 'roo for me.

If we hit any up this year it'll be All Good. I'd like to go to 10KL sometime too.

KrazeeStacee 02-09-2008 02:04 PM

Oh yeah, and Kanye West. Shoot me in the face. Worst crowd yet. Have fun living with Metallica fans for 3 days.

AndySlash 02-09-2008 03:20 PM

People were all nervous with Tool last year and shit was fine. This'll be no different.

You're saying you didn't notice the change of crowd?

I felt like it was the worst crowd at any fest I've been to (even including DMB fans at Bonnaroo '05)...a lot less friendlier. A lot of people we talked to felt the same way and said this was their last Bonnaroo.

And yes, ciGarski, I'd live with hippies anyday. They're friendly, they share...and they're generally very chill. Other than the lineups, this is why I go to music fests.

KrazeeStacee 02-09-2008 04:45 PM

But that's cool if other people are gonna enjoy the fest now and it's gonna be like another Coachella with a little bluegrass mixed in. It's just not for me...

Can't say that I did. I had good neighbors (one set who even loaned me a tent that they could have used for their group since mine was packed without the poles). My experiences in Centeroo with people were always friendly. Sitting here now I can't honestly think of one time where I saw or interacted with anyone I'd consider to be douchebaggy.

I had a great time last year, really. No complaints.

AndySlash 02-10-2008 06:12 PM

I thought Kanye was terrible at Lolla a couple years ago, so it's safe to say I won't be going to his set. But I'm actually looking forward to seeing Metallica again. I don't think I'd pay to see them on their own these days, but the couple times I've seen them previously have been real fun, and I don't expect this one to be much different.

AndySlash 02-11-2008 08:36 PM

Have fun waiting for a couple hours to get in.

AndySlash 02-11-2008 08:47 PM

Seems an awful waste of time to just wait when there's a ton of other things to see/hear at the same time.

I think the comedy tent is open when headliners are playing. Should be fun to see how long the line is before Metallica plays.

i agree with you, just saying i'm not jumping out of my boots over the announcement. i have seen both bands live multiple times and i KNOW i'll have a good time during the shows. it could certainly be alot worse...

same here....i thought everyone was super friendly and nice and helpful. we practically merged with several neighbors into one big party area, looking out for eachothers shit, sharing everything we had, etc. good times.

Oh, heh.

For that, plan on being in your car while moving slowly on the side of the road for 3-4 hours. You may get lucky and get in sooner, but don't plan on it. If your car has problems with overheating and/or the cooling system, don't bring it.
