it reminds me of something my husband was saying about the tom petty song "here comes my girl", where the verses build this sort of uncomfortable tension, then the chorus is a great relief. Of course, that section of here is no why is nothing like here comes my girl, (oh, except they both start with "here"), but that tension/release thing in a song is great.

you said it all with that solo of here is no why. It gives me fucking chills.

oh, and the ending of infinite sadness, when the bass runs up that ascending little scale. Makes me feel warm inside

Fuck! And I thought I was the only one. ;)

avsfan7733 02-07-2008 02:22 AM

looking back at this thread.. some of the stuff this band did is so fucking amazing..

smiling politely 02-07-2008 02:45 AM

6:37 - 6:48 in Starla, when the solo that has just recently commenced gets kicked up a notch.

fishy 02-07-2008 05:00 AM

The guitar solo in Bury Me...

I second that.

I'll add..the intro leading into the first few lines of speed kills (machina 2 version)

all of soothe

and outro to whir

reprise85 02-10-2008 02:42 PM

drone outro to obscured

My Blue Heaven 09-29-2008 11:55 PM

the strumming sound throughout farewell and goodnight, but especially during "you can tell, it's just as well". also, the echo on that particular line. impressive detail. and of course the band singing in this sogn is cool.

edit: shit, didnt realise this thread was so ancient!

Agree.

And the 3rd time the chorus kicks in for The Tale of Dusty and Pistol Pete...The acoustic guitar and vocals are given extra emphasis along with the atmospherics. 3:57-End

4:13 - 4:23 "Let them taste the bitter lost mistakes, of you"

redbull 09-30-2008 12:14 AM

when porcelina peaks out with all the guitar distortion and b0lly yelling "POOOOOOOOORCELINA" and theres 3 or 4 uncomfortable seconds of just feedback and then the bass kicks in with the octave riff

redbull 09-30-2008 12:15 AM

also the "please let me be your everything" part in Hello Kitty Kat

Rairun 09-30-2008 12:17 AM

The last time he sings "and should I fall from Grace" in Galapogos.

zPolishBloodz 09-30-2008 12:44 AM

"Ask yourself a question..."- Hummer.

My Blue Heaven 09-30-2008 01:36 AM

the little drum (fill?) before the quiet solo

ohhh yeah

DiscoJon 09-30-2008 05:36 AM

Anytime I hear Friends as Lovers, or any decent Zwan song. Most Pumpkin fans are fucking dipshits to not realize how amazing this space of songwriting was for Corgan.

Some of the best stuff he's ever done didn't need 50 overdubs and Jimmy's bombastic drumming to make amazing songs.

When you get older, you'll understand.

Shallowed 09-30-2008 06:13 AM

Whenever I listen to For Martha, I need to prepare myself with a fresh pair of underpants, because when the distorted guitar comes in, I can't stop myself from cumming.

The build up to that point gets my heart beating. When I first heard that song, I somehow knew from the opening chord that it would be my new favourite song.

I think you will find most people that use these boards/ listened to Zwan other than the album enjoyed the other stuff.

So get off your high horse ya dick.

Maybe the people that use Hatephoria are a little more informed than the typical pumpkins fans, I don't know. For the most part most Smashing Pumpkins fans when they think of Zwan think "ZOMG, Honestly was teh gay!!" and "TFE was soooo gahyee."

I can't speak for most Netphorians, and no, I won't get off my high horse because I'm older and I've been a fan longer than most of you fucks. I'm not an albino or some douche from San Jose or a mormon or a british art-fag or some lesbo that has just come bounding out of the closet. What I know is good music, and for the most part the Billy Corgan Zwan era has provided me with some of the best alt/folk music I have heard in my entire lifetime.

Slam me if you want, but when you losers get the fuck off the internet and start living life, you'll understand.

Spira|_ 09-30-2008 07:49 AM

well the soft part in the end of Tarantula is for me absolutly awesome... for sure the best part of Zeitgeist and more :P (is any other good part in Z?! :P ... yes some.... )

others I rebember now:
- "One last kiss for me and..."
- Mayonaise refran, well all song progression are pretty pretty good
- "Empty just like me"
- Dross intro "you say that Im beautiful" :0
- Muzzle --- I love the intro too

God you old bastards tell the most fucking boring stories.

So sublime moments...the bridge in SIYL just before and including the e-bow solo... When the bass comes in in STRTJ...

I didn't know the pumpkins had so many fans that are 13 year old girls.

OwenWilsonsNose 09-30-2008 01:44 PM

Everytime I listen to Jackboot I get jacked up. I love that riff and the solo towards the end.

Patuquitos 10-02-2008 07:34 PM

The chorus in Snail.
The guitar solo in Soma.
The loud guitar part in La Dolly Vita.
The false crescendo in Galapogos.
'I went falling' in Once Upon A Time.
'Awake in my arms / You cry unharmed' in Wound.
'Love is everything I want' in Home.
100% of Soot And Stars.
'I won't tell a soul / That I'm mad as hell' in Pomp And Circumstances.

I'll stop here. Otherwise, the list would be endless.

Just a couple Zwan / Billy solo additions:

The first stanzas in The Empty Sea.
Most of Now (And Then).
