Has anyone ever had this happen with a phone before?

I was at my friend's house recalling the tale of how I had driven all the way to Jersey last night for White Castle and then drove back at about a hundred miles an hour in my mother's car (I am the only one who actually drives this car but it belongs to my mother). So anyway as I am telling this to my friend my mother calls my cell phone which is in my pocket. I do not remove it from my pocket, but let it ring out instead because I am in the middle of my tale telling. So then she calls back about a minute later and informs me that she has just heard everything I said to my friend. Apparently even though I did not pick up my phone (it was actually locked so it is impossible that it accidentally picked up in my pocket) it allowed her to hear what was going on over on my end.

So has this ever happened to anyone else before? I find it to be an extremely strange occurrence and the only thing I can think of is that maybe the phone interfered with another piece of equipment which picked up what I was telling my friend. Either that or my mother has me bugged.

But yeah man this would happen with my old phone if the speakerphone button (which was on the outside) was hit while it was ringing. If you have a piece of shit Razor I think the mystery is solved Scooby and the gang are going to be disappointed that they wasted the gas to show up in this thread.

It wasn't raining, I don't have a razor, and I don't have a speaker phone feature. I have one of those shitty little pay as you go TracFones made by Motorola. I am really quite perplexed by what happened. My phone does not even have my mother's first call logged in the recent calls list.

I hope you get that phone out of your stomach, redbreegull

this is like the time my bf called me and i was like hello but he was just talking to some guy and i was like 'maybe he needs me to hang on a second' but he was just having a straight up conversation and doing his thing so i hung up and called him back and said hello.

Hmmm. This has happened before to me. But I think this results from people not locking their phones when they put them in their pockets. I got a phone call from my friend once and she left a message and it was 7 minutes of her arguing with her cousin.

Nope, the phone never picked up. No minutes were deducted and like I said, it doesn't even think it ever received a call from her at all. I will look into other plans though, especially after this.

i dont get it
your phone didnt pick up the call at all, but your mother heard you speak?
did she hear you speak along with the dial tone, or did the phone ring out and then instead of getting her to the voicemail and whatnot she heard what you were saying?

that's happened to me a million times, possibly because of my parents not paying attention to if their phone is going to start calling me.

Ah...something between my service and the handoff to the roaming network. That is the only possibility in there that is viable in this circumstance since I have already been over the whole "it never received my mother's call" thing. Weird though. Thanks for the link. Of course she listened to me talking about the ONE THING in the world I was trying to keep from my parents. The chances of this are so unlikely it almost makes me want to believe in God.

tcm 01-07-2008 01:47 AM

that's really the one and only thing? if they realized what a good boy you are, i am sure this will be forgiven with ease.
