i recall being so excited about this time year as a child.

Now it is just another time of year that seems to fly by me... I listen to Christmas music and it still just doesn't feel like Christmas.

my biggest problem with birthdays/christmas is that i don't particularly like the concept of gift-giving. and being with family is nice and all, but the family i see on these occasions is family that i already see on a pretty regular basis without holidays to bring us together. i don't like having to buy gifts for people that they probably won't ever use or enjoy, and i can't really buy the kinds of gifts i'd want to buy because i don't have enough money. and i hate being asked "what do you want for christmas/your birthday????" and it always being followed up with "you're so hard to shop for!"

i mean i guess it's fun for some people. my mom loves buying people shit. but i dunno. i just don't quite understand it i guess. nothing traumatic happened to me and my holidays are always reasonably enjoyable. i just don't get what the big deal is with them.
