I am such an asshole (girls: help pls?)

I didn't bid enough and now I missed out on this awesome coat:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=019

IT WAS MACHINE WASHABLE! I should've fucking bid up to $40, because now I realize finding one I like is tough and that's a damn steal. :(

So I need some help. I've recently realized I want one of these coats really bad. I know some of you girls are fashion savvy and "window shop" online a lot. So help me out here...

Any ideas where I could find a cute coat similar to that?

I love the shearling coats, I'd prefer not to have any real fur trim or real suede...I also want one that flares as much as that one does, just something to add some shape. And the fur trim on the collar, bottom AND sleeves.

I'm going to do some thrifting soon if I don't find anything online. I tried searching for vintage shops but haven't found anything that doesn't cost $200.

KrazeeStacee 12-14-2007 03:22 PM

Yeah...I said I was going to go thrifting if I couldn't find anything online...

Ghetto_Squirrel 12-14-2007 03:23 PM

Village Discount Outlet. If you go to ones that aren't near hipster neighborhoods, they're a treasure trove.

KrazeeStacee 12-14-2007 03:23 PM

I found this one which is pretty cute but it's hard to tell if it has that same fitted look or if it's going to look dumpy. I wish people would put their shit on models instead of on a hanger. =\

That aren't? Hm...I would've expected the opposite. I think there's one that's actually close by where I live. I wasn't even going to go there cuz I figured it was one of the less treasure-y places. Thanks.

hnibos 12-14-2007 03:25 PM

shopping online for clothes is so hard

wHATcOLOR 12-14-2007 03:27 PM

It is! I have a fucking tape measure here next to me and I keep having to try to think of how things are going to fit and all that...then I do something stupid like bid $13.50 for a coat that I realize now I would've paid $50 for, easily.

I'm such a dumbass when it comes to buying stuff...I'm always like oh that's too much money, I shouldn't spend that much on myself. I'll be kicking myself for a long time about this I'm sure...

wHATcOLOR 12-14-2007 03:28 PM

the fur would quickly become matted with the drugs that you do smoke

KrazeeStacee 12-14-2007 03:29 PM

Wow, you're really reaching now aren't you?

Well, the one by my old apartment (Clark Street, between Wilson and Foster--can't remember the exact cross-street) didn't accept donations, which would suggest they get their stuff from a central donation. If that's true, then you'd seemingly have better luck in locations that weren't prone to being picked over.

is that really a far out statement? you filthy animal

KrazeeStacee 12-14-2007 03:31 PM

I also really like this one even though it doesn't have the fur bottom/sleeves...but it's not a winter coat.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...TODAY.m238.lVI

I need something long and warm...I have a really nice, expensive long peacoat with a hood at home but it's black and I have a white dog so there's no hope for it.

Nimrod's Son 12-14-2007 03:35 PM

i hope it's not 100% dog fur

KrazeeStacee 12-14-2007 03:43 PM

I fucking LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this coat. Sadly, it's sheepskin and fox fur and it's $700

Yeah, this. I see coats like that in thrift stores all the time, 'specially winter season. You can forget vintage stores altogether, 'cause 'vintage' is just code for 'hip crap from a thrift store with a gargantuan mark-up.'

You could also try discount department stores such as Ross or TJ Maxx (dunno what the equivalents are in other parts of the country). I see stuff like that in there a lot, too.

Good luck.

be careful a spark from your marijuana pipe that you smoke out of when you're smoking the drugs doesn't ignite the fur at the bottom, for the flame will quickly travel upward, searing the skin on your face and neck, and burning your hair, even the tiny amount you've not already removed from your eyebrow area

Aha...makes sense. Thanks I'll have to check them out.

I'm on a fucking mission...I will get this coat.

Yeah I'm also going to try Burlington Coat Factory too...they're more expensive than a thrift store would be but they're still pretty cheap.

A.) I have eyebrows now, get with the times.
B.) Fur singes, it doesn't ignite.

A for effort, though.

wHATcOLOR 12-14-2007 04:45 PM

you will ignite

KrazeeStacee 12-14-2007 04:49 PM

Whatever helps you sleep at night, friend.

julie 12-14-2007 04:56 PM

i would check out forever 21 and h&m. forever 21 had more modern versions of that with just a faux collar.

i can't shop at thrift stores. i get skeeved out by wearing strangers' clothes.
