advice needed on a tricky situation!
for the second time in the past eighteen months my girlfriend's mother has taken out a credit card in her name without her knowledge, and not made payments to the point that the creditors call my girlfriend, telling her to pay or else. why her mother didn't give her own phone number, i don't know.
the first time the girlfriend's mother gave my girlfriend that card and then paid it off over a period of time. this appears to be all that is going to happen this time around, too. this must be seriously damaging her credit. also, she's on year five of student loans for a usless arts degree, and is going to get loans for two or three years more for a course which isn't even a grad course. so she's going to come out with eight years of student loans to pay off, probably no job, and already fucked credit.
is there anything that she can do which doesn't lead to her mother going to jail? are there any intervention-type counseling financial services or anything in canada?
