ummmmm we'd first have to gather/draft some troops... most of them are currently occupied at the moment.

Who needs troops when we could just nuke Iran? Turn that damned country into a gigantic crater! If that doesn't terrorize those damned Arabs into not being terrorists and make them lower their oil prices, then nothing will.

as convenient as organized society is, in the back of my mind, i am always wishing some society-breaking event like this would happen. maybe even something more intense, like a zombie apocalypse or nuclear holocaust. it feels like it would be the only "real" thing to happen in a while. maybe i'm just bored with my job

For real! I felt this way a few months ago, although I wonder if I really meant it.

A strike against Iran wouldn't involve ground forces, at least not in the early stages. Considering that we'd be attacking Iran to thwart their nuclear ambitions, our military's first mission would be to destroy all of Iran's nuclear facilities, some of which are believed to be underground. It's believed that it would take hundreds of airstrikes using thousands of bunker-busting bombs to abbliterate these fortified underground facilities over the course of days and weeks. After that, who the fuck knows what would happen, it's been said many of the top military brass fear an invasion of Iran considering the not-so-ideal landscape of Iran, a country much larger and more mountainous than Afghanistan or Iraq.

Iran has the balls to say FU. And as crazy as Hugo Chavez is, it makes me all warm inside when he does nothing but put down the bush administration on his little television variety hour type shows.

Oh no, I don't believe they have 'em and I doubt more so now that they are developing them with the release of the lastest NIE. I wouldn't want to wage war with Iran even if they were indeed developing them now. I was just pointing out what the so-called "planners" had drawn up as the initial actions for a pre-emptive strike against Iran.

plus as i understand it most iranians are pretty cool and it would benefit the west's relationship with the muslim world to work around the stupid iranian government and do things that build up our credibility and reputation with the people.

Why not make manatory military service for all 2 time convicted drug offenders. It would help empty our jails and put some crazy bastards in the MIddle East with the American peoples blessings. Bet illegal drug use and the crime it causes would go down too. ! Attack Iran with a million crackheads !, and who cares who dies !
