nice.

monkeyfritters 12-06-2007 08:09 PM

nice. you are so lucky to not be involved with such a shady, borderline criminal family anymore.

Toby 12-06-2007 08:10 PM

Did I mention that the lease expires at the end of January, so this really is dumb.

I'm the one that can afford to make rent payments. Just leave and when its time to renew I'll have you removed...I mean I'm not trying to be vengeful at all. I'm the one that was dumped.

unfortunatley i think MF is spot in there. i wouldn't trust anything if value in the house. but you mentioned not much local friends / family to fall back on, is storage an option?

but i totally agree with staying put for the month, don't back down they have no right to do this and they deserve to get screwed around for even trying this shit on you.

it's one thing to want to end a relationship. but to do this? it's a but psycho. i'm thinking maybe she has lied to her parents to get them heavily on side, either said you've been cheating, or said you've been abusive to her or something to get them fired up and involved.

just tell the parents it's none of their business, you are not going to have anything to do with them anymore since the relationship is over. as people have said, co-sign on lease is only if financial problem occur, nothing else, as was backed up by the answer the landlords secretary gave. if they try and get involved just ignore them politely, maybe tape record a few conversations just in case and be ready to defend yourself legally if they do fly off the handle and do something stupid (eg. being physical with you or your possesions)

GlasgowKiss 12-06-2007 08:13 PM

Buy a great big gun toby!

wtf? she wants you gone after bludging off your money/rent payments all this time and still wants to ask for your share of the following rent??? the rent period they want you out of the house for? what sort of BS is that?

sorry if there's still any mixed feelings you have for her toby, but fuck her, this is just wrong. you only treat enemies that way, that's fucked.

Good. Keep watch on personal items for the time being and figure out whether you want to move elsewhere or remove her from the lease at renewal, if that is not too troublesome.

monkeyfritters 12-06-2007 08:20 PM

ask the landlord to change the locks. do it now. they have to comply im pretty sure.

obscured01 12-06-2007 08:22 PM

Hey Tobes, does Tennessee have common law marriage or cohabiting laws? In Texas, if you were living together for a certain amount of time you're common law married - and she can't just kick you out.

Zach and I were talking and he said that if your name is on all the bills (utilities) that her father/her etc. cannot kick you out because that proves that it's your residence (plus your name being on the lease) that if her dad comes around to throw your shit out all you need to do is call the police and have a water/electricity/gas bill showing your name and the police won't allow them to kick you out.
He said this happened to one of his friends (friend's chick moved in with him and was on the lease, but he paid rent/deposits etc) and when they broke up she tried to kick him out and throw all his stuff out so he called the police - had a copy of a utility showing the residence was in his name and the police escorted her away instead.

But if for some reason she does end up staying you want to get everything out of your name asap because if she defaults on anything it's your credit that will take the hit on it. And that's the last thing you need on top of all this other garbage.

This has to be one of the best threads on Netphoria in quite some time. Hopefully that fact is somewhat comforting to you in this time of bullshitty.

Toby 12-06-2007 08:23 PM

You know, I thought I'd be pretty upset about this realtionship ending and I was....sunday - wed were pretty rough on me, but now that its gone this far I can't grieve because I am so angry that they are trying thier darndest to put me out of MY home.

That's sweet justice.

Toby 12-06-2007 08:26 PM

I don't know if I was misleading earlier, but the cable and utilities is in her name and she paid those with loan money, but regardless that amount doesn't come to close to half of what I pay for rent every month and its not like I didn't want to pay those bills I asked if I should pay half and she said since I was paying so much on the house she could front those bills.

Any chance they may try to pay January's rent? I'd have a hard time thinking the landlord could refuse payment for that... Even so, it'd make you guys even for the two months so you're still OK there, but I could see them saying they paid fro January and pulling this same shit again.

Either way, the bottom line is still that you are on the lease and you are not obligated to go anywhere. Again, do not be intimidated. I know you want to keep it as civil as possible, but do not go compromising what is best for you personally in the name of trying to keep things smooth. Stick to your guns and force them to work around you if this is how they choose to deal with you.

Good luck, mang.

monkeyfritters 12-06-2007 08:28 PM

does she lurk on netphoria?

if so, this thread could be given away the plans.

Girl! My credit is already garbage, hence the need for her mom to co-sign

monkeyfritters 12-06-2007 08:30 PM

also, to reiterate... the landlord has to change the locks if the person paying rent for the room is fearful for his safety and his possessions safety

Well if they want to pay for january I say go for it. at least it gives me enough time to find a place to live and no one will be out any money cause the lease will have expired at the end of that month.

You really are a habitual liar. :noway:

Toby 12-06-2007 08:48 PM

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think I said I paid all the bills I just said I paid 100% of the rent and if I did then I apologize, I was drunk and I don't blame you if you just give up on me like Kiley did.

:(

AndySlash 12-06-2007 08:50 PM

Toby's av reminded me- I saw a new favorite pedo bear image the other day

flyfire 12-06-2007 08:51 PM

bills or rent neither of you have to go anywhere. stay put.

Toby 12-06-2007 08:56 PM

Trust me I am not.

Toby 12-06-2007 08:57 PM

Furthermore, I can't believe Brendan I had so little faith in me!

You may pay the rent but we dont know the breadth of the burden if you dont tell us.

:(

Esty 12-06-2007 09:10 PM

I've hated that bitch since you hooked up, and every single person here knew she was wrong for you.

Be thankful this is happening now, and not 10 years from now when there is a kid involved.

Be strong toby, don't take any shit.

Toby 12-06-2007 09:27 PM

This whole relationship has been well documented here on netphoria as cigarski has said...love is blind, man and that sucks because once its done you just see how everyone was right and you just didn't see it nor believe it.

Eulogy 12-06-2007 09:40 PM

well she seemed nice when i met her. apparently she has an ugly side though!

Toby 12-06-2007 09:49 PM

Chris, you don't even know!
