just tell the parents it's none of their business, you are not going to have anything to do with them anymore since the relationship is over. as people have said, co-sign on lease is only if financial problem occur, nothing else, as was backed up by the answer the landlords secretary gave. if they try and get involved just ignore them politely, maybe tape record a few conversations just in case and be ready to defend yourself legally if they do fly off the handle and do something stupid (eg. being physical with you or your possesions)

I don't know if I was misleading earlier, but the cable and utilities is in her name and she paid those with loan money, but regardless that amount doesn't come to close to half of what I pay for rent every month and its not like I didn't want to pay those bills I asked if I should pay half and she said since I was paying so much on the house she could front those bills.

Any chance they may try to pay January's rent? I'd have a hard time thinking the landlord could refuse payment for that... Even so, it'd make you guys even for the two months so you're still OK there, but I could see them saying they paid fro January and pulling this same shit again.

Either way, the bottom line is still that you are on the lease and you are not obligated to go anywhere. Again, do not be intimidated. I know you want to keep it as civil as possible, but do not go compromising what is best for you personally in the name of trying to keep things smooth. Stick to your guns and force them to work around you if this is how they choose to deal with you.

Well if they want to pay for january I say go for it. at least it gives me enough time to find a place to live and no one will be out any money cause the lease will have expired at the end of that month.
