yeah, mike is telling me I should get a restraining order on her dad so if he does come to throw my shit out I can throw him in jail, but I just don't want to go down that route....I didn't want things to end this way, but I can say with a clear conscience that this is all her fault.

I've been trying to reach the landlord all day, but no luck so I talked with thier secretary or whatever and she basically said her parents don't have any say in the deal. So I'm waiting on a call from them to maybe straighten things out.

I don't plan on going anywhere, I am not going to let her get what she wants because she is a fucking child and thats how its always been. She is going to learn a small lesson from all this.

Toby, also - get receipts for every month's rent you have paid or copies of your bank account showing the money transaction (copies of check work, too).

I hope you haven't been paying rent in cash ... that's a bad move and in this case no one can prove you've been paying.

All good advice, even if you did pay in cash, hopefully you can pull some bank records showing the activity of pulling out cash around the rent payment date. You have every right to stay there, I'd say even more so than her because you've been paying rent.

Protect yourself first Toby, I'd say go ahead and get the restraining order just in case. You've already seemingly been through a lot of bullshit regarding this situation, do not leave yourself open for any more of it.

Also you should be able to look up the Landlord / Tenants laws for you State / County online... just use-a-da Google.

Well I paid the rent for this month and the secretary called one of them up and explained the sitch and she said she would have to consult her husband and they would get back with me.

I have been paying with money orders and they make a copy of the MO and the reciept in the office so there is plenty of paper trail here.

I don't know what I did this time...I think it is just a culmination of everything and my mom thinks she flipped because of the diet pills she has been taking...so who knows. Basically she feels that I treat her wrong and she doesn't deserve that and won't be treated like that.

Me too. She had text me this morning that she was going to collect half the rent from me and pay it tomorrow so I figured I might as well pay it while I have the upper hand. The secretary told me that if they tried to come in with a check tomorrow she'd tell them that the rent has already been paid and refuse it.
