And Bush is trying to play it down so he can push for action. Unprecedented!

Skradgee 12-04-2007 05:33 PM

He both plays up the new report as proof of how improved the intelligence operation is because of the restructuring changes they've instituted and then play down what the report concludes. Amazing.

The US intelligence report that says they don't believe Iran is intending to develop nuclear weapons, and that they ended their program years ago. Sound eerily familiar?

Bush and other iran fear mongers: "so. the. fuck. what."

Right wing blogs, blind to irony: "you can't trust what the CIA says, they thought that Iraq had wmds and they were wrong!"

That is the funny :erm: part of it all.

Well, I believe it took the wind out of the American Neoconservative's sails. Remember though, that if Israel attacks Iran, we have pledged to support them. We aren't out of the woods yet; however, it is now highly unlikely an attack could be justified by anyone that isn't batshit crazy.

I wouldnt go as far as to say "israel" but yes, certain elements within it (ie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yigal_Amir)

What's ironic about it? They're just heeding the wise words of George W. Bush.

"Fool me once, shame on....shame on you. Fool me, can't get fooled again."

Yeah I'm not sure if it's too much a political victory for anyone. Basically, intelligence community has been saying:

Iraq is hiding WMDs!

Whoops they're not!

Sadam Hussein has ties to Al Qaeda!

Oh wait he doesn't!

Iran is developing nuclear weapons!

Iran is NOT developing nuclear weapons!
