six billion people on the earth - i highly doubt that's from monogamy.

also, from what i've read in early evolution, no. we had to spread our seed to survive.

and to this day, that ambition hasn't died off.

humans have not always been monogamous, that is known. really powerful dudes would monopolize all the women. but that doesn't happen on nearly as great of a scale anymore. if you're talking in general biological terms, monogamy is the closest you can get to describe our mating system. at least i think so. someone correct me if i'm wrong.

yeah i agree the majority of us are this way.

plus the dictionary says a few definitions including one that says that it means that you are with only one mate "at a time". so i guess that means even if you divorce (God forbid) and you get a new mate that mate becomes your mate for life (hopefully)
