Don Cherry on women at hockey games.

At the risk of offending ghetto squirrel, I felt compelled to share this.

"...and it's always a woman, yapping away there"

T&T 10-22-2007 11:09 AM

it's not his fault that womens hockey is as boring as the WNBA

T&T 10-22-2007 11:11 AM

oops. i assumed it was a different don cherry clip...

"what a wimp"

BumbleBeeMouth 10-22-2007 11:13 AM

haha they talk funny.

Hehe, he never really gets old. A recently converted hockey friend of mine told me she's always a little suprised that Cherry is an actual analyst on HNIC, she keeps thinking his name will pop up in the credits at the end of the night... "Don Cherry was played by.....".

i want to know: is there an equivalent to Don Cherry in other professional sports? I'd love to see them.

Injektilo 10-22-2007 01:18 PM

i thought John Madden was in football, but apparently he's a lot more bland.

I don't think anyone else could quite have the cultural impact Cherry does. I mean, he's usually the first thing people think of when they hear the phrase Hockey Night In Canada, and the guy finished seventh or whatever on that CBC list of Greatest Canadians... however unscientific that list may have been, anecdotal evidence is all we really need here.

Professor Fox 10-22-2007 11:00 PM

Yeah, Don Cherry is one of a kind.

Professor Fox 10-23-2007 12:44 AM

I can just picture ghetto squirrel yapping away and getting smacked with a puck.

Cherry was on Game 3 of NBC's 07 Stanley Cup final coverage during the 2nd intermission. It was pretty cool, but he left out any sexist or racial slurs this time around. But he was flamboyant, at least.

The closest I see to Don Cherry is probably Tony Kornheiser on Monday Night Football and he's a pale, sad, shallow imitation. He really only has a loud, irritating voice and exceptionally over-the-top proclamations.
