Talking about evolution with a Bob Jones University Biology Major
 

I think my brain may have possible exploded. I worked 36 hours straight with a kid who is a biology major at Bob Jones University. Talking evolution with this chode was one of the most exhausting exercises of my life. Every time we reached an impasse of logic the answer was "God willed it that way."

Interesting facts I gained from the talk-

1. The Earth is in fact 6000-8000 years old (10,000 years is a long estimate).
2. Carbon Dating Data is bullshit
3. Shared DNA between humans and apes is considered "throwaway DNA" and just incidental.
4. Most researchers into prehistoric man have admitted that they lied and placed evidence to further their agenda.

I am still reeling from the conversation. I gotta get the fuck out of SC :(

I had to work with the guy for 36 hours straight. There was little to do but talk with the fella. I got him to admit that he'd tried masturbation and I claimed that as a moral victory.

i flipped through the guys biology book and it was a LOLfest. It is telling the BoJo has their own printing press in which they self publish the vast majority of their text books.

Just wait until you get to talk to a geology major.

I run into quite a few of these loons in my daily activities and it creeps me out how they all seem to speak on the same talking points while marching to the same drum. My conversation with this guy on homosexuality was equally hilarious.

Now I'm no big time city lawyer, but aren't the equations that prove carbon (and strontium et cetera) dating present in every day engineering and physics? I mean... if jets fly, which they do, then the process for determining something's age based on- ah fuck it, I hate arguing with people who believe in magic.

californians generally seem to be friendly people who won't give a shit about you after you leave, but thats okay because I find myself being the same way

How do you keep managing to get into conversations about homosexuality and evolution with these people? It doesn't seem like the sort of thing that would come up in normal conversation, and one would think you yourself wouldn't bring up the subject just so you can get distressed about what they have to say about it.

He brought it up dude. He asked me if I was saved with in of itself is probably out of bounds as we work for a government organization and it went from there. I'm am guilty of taking the bait though.

Well, if he brought it up then I guess it's okay to string him along a bit. I just had the impression from your other post that you got into similar conversations with other loons, and I just found that a bit odd. It's not that hard to avoid hearing people's ridiculous ideas on things if you don't want to hear them, even in the South. But you can't encourage people.

Many of the Jonesers go out of their way to engage nonbelievers in conversation in an attempt sway hearts and opinions. They freely admit that it is part of their "ministry." I often tune them out but felt like getting into it last night.
