because a mac processess information completely different than a PC. 3D Max and Photoshop at the same time with a web browser open*gasp* NO WAY! Congratulations your computer can run what 90% of high school graphics classess run on a daily basis. You need what 256 RAM to pull that one off? Gimmie a break.
Try something that stressess your comp a bit and can flex a bit of muscle.... Cubase with a ton of vsts open and running, using redrum from reason, recording with wave-lab, and editing with pro-tools is a common operation for even bedroom producers and stressess a PC quite a bit. It's practicly impossible to run reason in conjunction with cubase.... most computers either freeze or shut down the programs.
Could you at some point soup your computer up enough to accomplish what a mac does? Yes. But by the time you put in a large chunk of $$$ and are running a gig plus processor with a huge slab of ram you've managed to accomplish what a standard 700 mhz ibook can do.
It's like comparing an RX-7 to a honda accord. Granted you can do a lot more to an accord. You can soup it the fuck up, crank up your horse power, lighten it up all you want, do whatever you want to to make it faster.... but 90% of the time you'll still barely be as good as a standard RX-7.
