The Rugby World Cup 2008 Official Thread.
I always wanted to do one of these.
So, it kicks off in France next week. Dun dun, some good rugby this year, folk. |
i hope the goddamn english get their asses kicked. I can't stand english teams when it comes to national competitions.
|
apparently they're in the same group as South Effrica. GO SOUTH EFFRICA!!!
|
Naturally, I’m backing the Springboks myself.
And it’s a good year for them, they’re looking solid, good contenders. Obviously All Blacks are tipped to win it, Australia is always a huge factor. England this year? I don’t know hey? Sorry you English folk, but haven’t seen great consistent form lately. France are hungry for it, and it’s at home, they’ve been looking sharp. Argentina tipped as a dark horse… But realistically, I’m not seeing it. Samoa always hits hard. Hmm… Good stuff. |
Oh and furthermore, they spoil the entire game with this guy making all these dropgoals. Wilkinson, right?

And I'm feeling awfully confident about that game. Dun dun. I think most would agree. |
go america!!
|
I think we play America, dont we?
Hmmm. :D |

Some people say he's the reason they took the last one. I dont know, kicking is important, but it's also a very different style of game when used. Weird. Australia dont even have a decent kicker at the moment, I dont think? Their coach is trying to get the points for a dropgoal dropped from 3 to 1. |
There's countries listed of which i didn't even knew that they could form a semi decent rugby team. Georgia, wtf? Namibia?
I can't find whether the BBC is going to have TV coverage of the matches. Sure they'll have some highlight, but i want to see LIVE ACTION. I really hope it's not the same shit as with the cricket WC and 20/20 WC, which i can't watch. Dumb commercial channel decoder bullshit. |
i wish i could watch this. i just realized how awesome rugby is this summer

Drop kicking interupts the flow of the game, but it can also be crucial for winning. Teams play to win, I guess, and it's a style that can be used effectively to break up a stronger attacking team as well. But yeah, just one of the many aspects to consider I guess, makes it a more faceted sport. |

If the all blacks don't win this time, I think New Zealand is going to sink into the pacific, never to be seen again.
I really believe this. |
Does anyone remember wales last world cup, they were the bestest. I wanted them to win the whole thing after they beat the all blacks. I still have my all blacks 2003 jersey come to think of it. It's pretty cool.

what |
Well actually I don't think they won, I think they were leading during half time or something but I dunno I remember really liking the welsh.
|
yeah, I think it was the quarter finals, but the ab's won.
And then lost to the auzzies. |
We're actually pretty good at this. We should do well hopefully.

ok, i have to come back from this statement slightly. I think it's the english media which get me wound up all the time. Bunch of arrogant assclowns. And while we're at it anyways, don't you think it's a disgrace that the english football team isn't performing any better than they are? |

I don't think we'll qualify for Euro 2008...we're basically one more bad result away from getting dumped out :( |
