I hate how Las Vegas tries to have the kind of class of which it's so obviously devoid. But with the Bellagio and the Venetian, they are bringing a little bit more class to an unclassy city. I like the Venetian because it has a beautiful art gallery, nice restaurants, no all-you-can-eat buffets or nasty shows, and is decorated as a European resort might be, not like a Las Vegas hotel/casino.

Thanks to tourists, the locals get a lot of lucky breaks. So when people like you go play with a slot machine, I can enjoy having less taxes and plenty of job opportunities. Those bastards who created these casinos are some of the richest motherfuckers in the world.

But you don't anymore. You think you know more than you do about one of the fastest growing cities in the world.

Well, there's only so much class you can associate with tourists and gambling - we're not really talking Monte Carlo in the 30s here. I guess it's a step in the right direction, although some more actual museums and art galleries in the city would probably be a better idea. Oh I don't know... at least you have somewhere cool to work. And maybe you can plan a heist!

That's what I meant, though. I left this place for a reason. I was just expressing my excitement over the step in the right direction. I know what kind of filth lurks around the Strip, and I see all kinds of tourist traps and cheesy shows and porno flyers all the time. I talked to people who have been to Venice and they were pretty impressed. It has an art gallery, so I was happy.

The Monte Carlo casino, however, is a far cry from the real thing. I went there and it was just...empty. A new place with slot machines and lots of palm trees.

I completely agree with the art gallery and museum thing. I moved away from Las Vegas because it doesn't have much culture at all.

You should work for the tourism board, not at the Venetian. I'm not going to argue with you any more, but I don't believe European decoration and art galleries make the casinos any more than the disgusting social sores than they are.

I wasn't aware that we were arguing.

Those social sores are what give jobs to 70% of Las Vegas. So you can hem and haw, but sooner or later you have to look at reality. The casinos aren't going to disappear because you and I don't like them. I think the fact that someone is TRYING to bring some kind of culture into Las Vegas amongst the glitz and bullshit is pretty commendable.

European décor is not equatable to culture. Introducing authentic aspects of it is, however. Showing these people art, music, and customs of another country in a very un-Las Vegas way is a big step for the casino business and for life in Las Vegas.
