Sega CD: remember that piece of crap?

I rented it once from Blockbuster. That thing would always freeze and the loading times were horrible.

I remember being offered either a SNES or a Sega CD in '93. Thank God I went with the SNES.

Kilgore Trout 06-25-2002 01:53 PM

LOL...I bought one and the only good game for it was Dragon's Lair/Space Ace. Now it just sits there

I have vivid memories of TV ads for "sewer shark". Remember "Night Trap"?

beamish13 06-25-2002 01:56 PM

32x was pointless as well. I hate Sega.

speaking of game system memories... I remember before the 64 came out hearing about the Dolphin... did anything eever happen with that? what was it supposed to be? or was the 64 the dolphin renamed? (that's what I heard)

i obviously don't keep up much with all that.

N64 went by several names: dolphin, star, etc...

Kilgore Trout 06-25-2002 02:00 PM

Was Echo the name of that Dolphin game?

Neo-Geo was like the fucking Holy Grail. Both the system and its games were so damn expensive that I only knew one person who had one. The owner of the local pizza joint (who is widely believed to be affiliated with the goodfellas) "bought" one for his son for Christmas. I was so jealous.

That Neo-Geo scene in the Godfather will stay with me to my dying day... http://www.netphoria.org/wwwboard/frown.gif

I think the Dolphin was a codename for the Gamecube - the N64 was called Project Reality, then Ultra 64

Mooney 06-25-2002 05:35 PM

yeah, for the most part the nintendo 64 was crap. like after an entire year it had a library of like 12 games. aside from a few notables such as mario 64, goldeneye, and zelda, it was trash.

Nate the Grate 06-25-2002 06:59 PM

PlayStation>N64
PlayStation>PS One

(ps. the code name for the PlayStation was PSX. I used to always call it PSX and had no idea that it had a meaning)

AND the Playstation started life as a CDROM drive for the snes, in a joint venture with Nintendo. Nintendo ended up pulling out, and the rest is history. Smooooth.

McCollum 06-26-2002 02:27 AM

you guys are forgeting the bombs which were Sega Saturn, Virtual Boy, and yeah the Dreamcast bit the dust too because well Sega always sucked.
