I need advice on the shows I watch

What I watch on a consistent basis:

Monday - Weeds

Tuesday - nothing

Wednesday - Lost

Thursday - Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy (tape The Office)

Friday - nothing

Saturday - nothing

Sunday - Big Love

OK, so I have Showtime and HBO. I loved John From Cincinnati but it's gone now, and I think I'll replace it with Californication b/c the first two episodes have been so good.

What about Thursday night? My buddies give me a hard time for not watching My Name is Earl and Scrubs but those shows seemed dumb to me when I've watched them before. Of course, they say i'm gay for watching Ugly Betty and Grey's (no argument there).

So yeah, any recommendations on Showtime or HBO? Any network TV?

kthx

My Name Is Earl and Scrubs both suck, watch 30 Rock

avian chaos 08-22-2007 04:25 PM

Shapan 08-22-2007 04:26 PM

Dexter and 30 Rock. Both are in the second season but you also have time to check out both via torrent or DVD before season two starts.

pale_princess 08-22-2007 04:35 PM

if you like californication, you'd love nip/tuck.

Caine Walker 08-22-2007 04:35 PM

i haven't watched tv in over three weeks now, save for this past weekend in a hotel with my boyfriend. we basically flipped between Bravo, the History Channel and the Food Network. we stopped on Mtv for a second and i saw the abortion that is The Hills and the new season of the Real World. i mean... wow. we had to turn it off because it was just too much.

pale_princess 08-22-2007 04:37 PM

i loved laguna beach but i fucking hate the hills. why would they give the most boring personality of the laguna franchise their own show?

monkeyfritters 08-22-2007 04:38 PM

deadliest snatch

i couldn't even believe that it was a real show for a second. do they REALLY talk like that? i mean, they can't... can they? these things are starting to look and sound like college kids put them together for their campus station.

Nimrod's Son 08-22-2007 04:46 PM

Entourage, Dexter

Corganist 08-22-2007 04:49 PM

I'll add in another recommendation for Dexter. Its definitely worth getting caught up on it before the new season starts up next month.

I also really enjoy and recommend a couple of USA's original shows ("Burn Notice" on Thursday night, "Psych" on Friday night).

julie 08-22-2007 04:50 PM

if you wait a month all the fall shows will be debuting. there's some interesting stuff coming up but we'll see what survives. right now the only thing worth watching is top chef. have you seen the closer, rescue me, mad men or damages with glenn close? i think they're probably the best new shows on right now.

coming soon i'll be watching regularly:
heroes
law & order svu
survivor china
top model (sorry)

i'll try out:
pushing daisies
dirty sexy money
new amsterdam
chuck
journeyman

in the winter:
the wire (hopefully)
lost
24 (it better improve)

Caine Walker 08-22-2007 04:54 PM

hooray for top model!

ravenguy2000 08-22-2007 05:01 PM

Ahk, My Name Is Earl. It is at turns sappy, trite, unfunny, boring, cheesy, painful, stupid, just horrible to watch.

And then there have been a handful of episodes that I just about thought it was the best thing on TV.

Frustrating show. Super uneven.

Esty 08-22-2007 06:20 PM

LOS ANGELES -

The clock is ticking for actress-comedian Janeane Garofalo: She's joining the cast of the Fox TV drama "24." Garofalo will play an FBI systems analyst when "24," which stars Kiefer Sutherland as a counterterrorism agent, returns in January for its seventh season, the network said Tuesday.

If she dies a horrible death, then this will be the greatest season of 24 ever.

What. The. Fuck.

Esty 08-22-2007 06:53 PM

Eh, as long as audrey is not around, it'd be an improvement.

pale blue eyes 08-22-2007 07:11 PM

Yeah, what a waste she was even before she sort of lost it upstairs.

Nimrod's Son 08-22-2007 07:12 PM

jack should be banging kate warner again. or maybe his sister in law

Zerospaced 08-22-2007 07:25 PM

Make sure you check out Chuck on NBC this season, it's pretty good, Bionic Woman was good too, that starts in September. And of course Heroes.
