Actually, the Canadians probably would have handled it quite well. Unlike the Americans, who resorted to putting a Canadian flag on the FLOOR of their own locker room...that's quite insulting, and something that the Canadian team would never do - stomp on something as symbolic as a flag.

This is not true. Yes, there was a Canadian flag in the middle of the US locker room, but not to trample on. They were strictly told to not step on it out of respect.

The flag was there to constantly remind them that Canada was on their tail, and to not get complacent because they would meet Canada eventually.

But Canada definitely does not spend very much at all on that stuff. That was sort of my point - that it's a little hard to win that many medals when you don't really have all the means to.

that game was so fucked up. canada got THIRTEEN penalties! the ref was fucking absurd! it HAD to be fixed!! you must surely all agree with me if you saw the game, regardless of where you're from. wtf.

anyway, regardless what sport it was the american team had won their last 36 games in a row, their last 8 against canada, probably bribed the refs, wiped their skates on the maple leaf, had a power play for like half the game and were crying because they got silver. an upset like that is truly inspiring shit.

Regardless, it was A) women's hockey and B) I seem to remember a whole shitload of Canadians crying because their pairs figure skaters got the silver.
