the nominations are pretty atrocious.

best picture. hmm. of the 5, i've only seen lord of the rings. i guess i should go see if A Beautiful Mind sucks as much as i expect it to. i'm rooting for In the Bedroom.

best actor. this is the worst category. i don't really care who wins. russel crowe again? ugh. i hated gladiator. but he was pretty awesome in the insider. i guess i'll root for Wilkinson.

best director. i haven't seen Mulholland Drive. i'm not even sure it was screened near here. but i'm rooting for Lynch in this category. Ron Howard is a fuck.

best screenplay is the best category. tough decision here. idunno. all the films actually sound good to me.

the rest of the ones i'll root for: Spacek for actress, Kingsley for supporting actor, Ghost World for adapted screenplay, LOTR for art direction (yes, i think that this film was awesome in that department), The Man Who Wasn't There for cinematography, AI for visual effects, AI for score, Amelie for foreign film.

and the funny thing is i haven't seen most of the movies i root for. i have to wait for video for most good films, since none play around here.

Moulin Rouge for best picture?

Moulin Rouge was a unique concept movie, and no matter how lousy concept movies are, they usually get at least a considerable amount of attention during the Oscars.

That said, it's one of the most overrated movies I've EVER seen...The Royal Tenebaums was three times as good.

If LOTR doesn't win it, I'll be disappointed. Although In The Bedroom looks interesting enough (I haven't seen it yet), the rest of the movies are undeserving of Best Picture.

It's true, it's true.
