marybeth - the original long-term troll, brainchild of lucas mcdermott. her alphanumerics, capitalization and OFUKYA! catch phrases permanently expanded and revolutionized netphorian lexicon at a time when troll influence wasn't even yet conceived. a trailblazer.

nallo, grandpa (others) - spin-offs of lucas's glory days.

dancing with cats, dancing alone - spammed boards repeatedly. also did this

when you die inside, and again - embodied the 'argument troll,' one who provokes everybody into a perpetual course of empty comebacks. a sociopathic guy called chris from oregon. what a weirdo. probably is autopsy.

grammar police, posse, gestapo, latin grammar police, etc. - self-explanitory. cheekily contradicted marybeth's anti-grammar trend.

canadian politican trolls - bored ubc students brought an unexpected politically conscious side to trolling.

julian, porn connosieur - although an actual person, julian is widely believed to represent the pinnacle of trolling. expanding on marybeth's multi-dimensional character, julian had a homepage and started or popularized the now ominpresent mandatory troll image (MTI) included at the beginning or end of every troll post. look no further than the homepage to understand the depths of julian's endearing philosophy, subtle optimism and carefully nuanced agony.

concerned feminist, bob dole (possibly) - spin-offs of the success of julian and the SLC crew.

ice cream d00d, skaterd00d, rockd00d etc. - memorably ridiculous personalities combined with memorably ridiculous pictures (in ice cream's case, a home photo of an actual ice cream man.)

BAD JAPANESE TRANSLATOR - though an off-shoot of the all your base all belong to us internet phenomenon, a gimmick backed up with strong enough humor made BDJ loveable, like a big teddy bear. though technically it's more of an alias than a troll.

some moron who kept posting pictures of icebergs.

sad tragic blues - i missed this. someone fill it in.

shitfuck - thrived entirely on the raw, carnal stimulation that people get out of saying, typing or thinking about the phrase "the almighty shitfuck" and managed to last a long time.

actors (aronld schwarzenneger, the goldmeister) - short-lived, but created one of the funniest threads in nethphorian history. (brendan has it saved.)

off-topic man - as well as being the most appealing one-gimmick troll, off-topic man posted the mysterious and celebrated andrew pakula mp3, and was then banned and never heard from again.

VCR, CD-R, DVD-R - short lived. VCR was the first widely known neo-absurdist message board artist on the netphoria boards, and also probably a real person. emobided the expiremental trolling movement.

superman, [name] the [adjective] years, batman - largely derivative and widespread troll revival.

i'm probably missing in huge gaps. anyone can add whatever.

Lucas was hilarious in his own way.
