Live Earth Webcast (AU)

From the Connect feature in yesterday's Herald Sun, Melbourne:

Down to Earth music broadcasts
AUSTRALIANS will be able to watch any Live Earth concert from around the world - from Shanghai to Johannesburg - for free, via a live online video stream from ninemsn.

After the concerts are finished, audiences will be able to go back and pick any track or artist they want to listen to - and create a Live Earth playlist to share.

Do we have any idea yet when SP will be on? Do we have any other webcast links for people in other parts of the world?

I think channel V might be showing it too.

brendo_91 07-05-2007 06:11 AM

Yeah kinda - from Wiki:

Quote:

Australia: FOX8 will broadcast the entire event live, Channel [V] and Max Channel will have behind-the-scenes coverage from Sydney, NineMSN provides internet coverage, Triple M provides radio coverage.
Until now I'd not been clear on the fact that we could watch ALL the concerts on the webcast here. I imagine it should be the same around the world, right?

Man, this Live Earth is a bit of a clusterfuck... Live 8 was organized so much better, or at least the information was presented in a clear manner.

love police 07-05-2007 07:45 AM

Live8 had not Smashing Pumpkins though... so therefore it is inferior

brendo_91 07-05-2007 07:52 AM

ok, but what use is having SP, if we dont know what time to make netphoria crash as we go into a posting frenzy

blue_june_destroyer 07-05-2007 10:21 AM

Yeah, the marketing/promotion for Live Earth has been scattered to say the least... 'slippery' is probably a better term... the details seem to be all over the place and change when at last someone grasps what is actually happening.

i have this uneasy feeling that we'll turn on the tv this weekend, and then we'll see al gore shout "APRIL FOOLS!!!" while running a diesel generator and cutting down forests or something.

and then one of his staff will run in and inform him that april was in fact 3 months ago.

blue_june_destroyer 07-05-2007 10:58 AM

Cue Gore claiming that he'd been living with sherpas in the Himalayas without such modern, Earth destroying conveniences as calendars and wristwatches...

brendo_91 07-05-2007 11:08 AM

i just think the whole thing is hypocritical - even if they happen to make these concerts carbon neutral, there is still the matter of people driving or flying to get to these concerts, which defeats the point.

Fonzie 07-06-2007 07:45 PM

we have it free-to-air on c4 and simulcast on some radio station-or-other

1) They may have taken that into account when they arranged the carbon neutrality

2) Don't you think the awareness this generates is worth it?

Ever 07-06-2007 08:21 PM

The show starts at 4am sydney time :S

Ever 07-06-2007 08:22 PM

The ny show that is. I have no clue when the pumpkins are playing.

brendo_91 07-06-2007 08:27 PM

Yeah, it's not on free to air here.... the only free part is the webcast and radio broadcast.

"Hey everyone, there's this thing that I don't think any of you have ever heard about and it's called Global Warming"...

Bloody hell, we've known about it for years and years now. I remember being taught about it in school a decade ago.
