mxr dist + script logo's are a great choice if you feel your distortion is taking away too much of the "note" itself. if you've got any germanium transistors in your distortion pedals (usually on older pedals) try putting you pedal in the freezer for 20 minutes before recording. that really tightens up the sound as well. i think the distortion I really want is the mellon collie epic guitar sound like on thru the eyes of ruby. super compressed and tons of sustain.

im glad you shared your guitars, but your lack of sweaters and continual posting of pictures of you guys playing music i cant stand to listen to is just not going to cut it. either post some pictures of you in sweaters, or something about sweaters wearing guitars or something about guitars that play so well that the notes shoot off the guitar strings like lasers and form threads of musical love and harmony that actually weave sweaters of incredible polyphonic enjoyment for all, or go away. thank you.

TTEOR is a perfect example of the JMP-1 on OD1 mode and the bass shift button On. Very cool sound indeed.

I would run it through the v4 with the v4s preamp bypassed.

I've tried running it with various heads and it doesn't quite kick as well as it's own power amp. :(
Makes me sad cuz the Strategy 500 is so heavy and expensive to retube.

those mesa power amps are extreme.
