J .K. ROWLING’S SEVENTH AND FINAL HARRY POTTER NOVEL, HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, TO BE PUBLISHED ON JULY 21, 2007

New York, NY (February 1, 2007) -- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling, the seventh and final book in the best-selling series, has been scheduled for release at 12:01 a.m. on July 21, 2007, it was announced today by Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company.

In making the announcement, Lisa Holton, President of Scholastic Children’s Books said, “We are thrilled to announce the publication date of the seventh installment in this remarkable series. We join J.K. Rowling’s millions of readers – young and old, veterans and newcomers – in anticipating what lies ahead.”

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, J.K. Rowling’s sixth Harry Potter book, was released on July 16, 2005, and was the fastest-selling book in history, selling 6.9 million copies in the first 24 hours. All six Harry Potter books, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince have been number one bestsellers in the United States, the U.K., and around the world. There are currently over 120 million copies of the Harry Potter books in print in the United States alone.

Scholastic will publish Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (ISBN: 0-545-01022-5 ; Price: $34.99) in hardcover under the Arthur A. Levine imprint with interior and cover art by Mary GrandPré, who has illustrated the previous six books. Suggested retail $34.99? Sweet jeebus, this book is going to be 5000 pages long.

I'd be in heaven if it was 5000 pages long! That's just the cover price though. I'm sure WalMart and Amazon etc will have it on sale for 14.99 as usual. I don't care if it was 100.00 though i'd still buy it at midnight.

I could care less about H.P., but I intend to call my house and wake my mom up and give her this news...she's a HUGE Potter fan.

And I read. A LOT. By H.P. passed me by like it was too good for me, and when it turned around again to see if I was following, I wasn't there. WAS i, H.P.?????>? NO, I WAS NOT11!!

I'll do it on the way to class...I'm in my school library now, which is like a Bermuda Triangle for my cell phone. It's not worth paying roaming charges just to piss her off.

i read up to the 4th one and then stopped because i realised if i wanted to be a hipster i had to stop reading HP

the first book was interesting. i'm glad people like reading it, and it isn't horribly written, but personally i'm not into stories about kids with magic powers because i am not seven anymore.

I wonder how available it will be in Taiwan.... it'd be nice if i could just borrow it off someone, but I'd imagine netphoria would ruin the ending for me long before that ever might happen.

As the books progressed they became more adult oriented, i'm not sure if thats the term for it but they had some more adult themes I guess. Books 5 and 6 were pretty dark and dealt a lot with death.

They can't produce it quick enough for the damn thing, the seventh book, to be released on 07/07/07? THERE'S INSTANT MARKETING POSSIBILITIES. Not that HP needs any, but still... seems an awful waste to not use something like that to your advantage.
