Printed money is useless anyway. Eliminate the entire printing process.

Trotskilicious 12-06-2006 10:10 PM

yeah i want ten pounds of change in my pocket when i go to pay my cable bill

rock on dood

peabody 12-06-2006 10:11 PM

i think he wasn't arguing for a strict coin based currency system.

that'd be fun though. i love change.

i'm just being reactionary. don't mess with me when my blood is up

Well, really until everyone takes Debit/Credit Cards thats not accurate. Everyone takes cash. So until we eliminate paper money all together they should be accomodated. I would guess the majority of transactions are still conducted with paper cash.

yes. i also take personal responsibility for accomidating blind people with their resonable requests to be able to tell if they're giving a twenty to a pimple faced angry teenage boy at wendys for their jr. bacon cheesebuger without having to pay for an additional device to help them do so.

I don't know how it is where you are, but everywhere I've been over the past few years, 99% of businesses take cards. Sure, the blind may have problems at a swap meet or buying weed in the park, but these are minor inconveniences.

Well I could tell different sized bills or holes punched in 'em if I was wasted.

I would think that the braille would wear away on older bills so that's probably not even feasable.

This isn't a solution. What if someone rings up the wrong total and pockets the difference? BACK TO SQUARE ONE!

Trotskilicious 12-06-2006 10:27 PM

I wonder if this is what sleeps and Mayfuck are talking about when they say I suck Nimrod's cock.

No, but I bet most of your overreation in this thread is related to proving you don't

We'll just have them all move to where you live then, easy fix.

no that just occured to me

my overreaction is due to the fact that you're posting utter nonsense and jackassery.

Future Boy 12-06-2006 10:41 PM

Welcome to the politics board.

Trotskilicious 12-06-2006 10:45 PM

i mean i can ignore it most times but when you pick the blind out as some kind of target for "increased government cost" I have to say something because that's just asinine.

null123 12-06-2006 10:53 PM

Changing the bill size wouldn't cost that much in the long run. I think it's a worthwhile change to make.

Do you really think that there are enough douchebags out there who are just itching to bilk blind people out of a few bucks to warrant throwing out the entire US paper currency system as it stands now and starting things over from scratch? Where does it all stop? Do we need all traffic lights to be made to talk or make noise just in case some asshole tells a blind guy that the sign says "walk" when it actually says "don't walk"?

I think everyone wants blind people to be able to function in society as easily as possible, but there's got to be more practical ways of accomodating them than overhauling the entire money printing system as we know it. It probably doesn't matter though. This judge's decision will very likely be reversed on appeal.

Trotskilicious 12-06-2006 10:59 PM

It's a good thing the blind can't read this thread.

Trotskilicious 12-06-2006 11:00 PM

by the way, don't some walk signs make noise now? I know you don't get that kind of high-falootin' gagetry in Arkansas but I think there are.

I'm pretty sure there are too, but does that mean that some federal judge should order all state and local governments to rip out all their current lights and replace them with the talking ones? Don't get me wrong, its probably a good idea and all, just as differently shaped money would be. But sometimes good ideas take more time to be implemented than we'd all like, and some rogue federal judge trying to force the issue doesn't help matters.

They're all over my neighborhood. I am tempted to record the tweeting sound and then wait outside the school for the blind and play it back out of my phone and see how many walk into traffic

I never really said it should happen tomorrow but I'm just saying that if we did something to change the shape of money so we could tell what denomination it was without looking at it, i think everyone would benefit and that would be definitely be worth it.

I was thinking about this earlier and you wouldn't even need to change the width and length all that much, just change the corners to rounded, squared, angled, etc.

Effloresce 12-07-2006 01:52 AM

What the fuck, Nimrod?

Nate the Grate 12-07-2006 02:09 AM

I feel stupider for having read this thread.

Trotskilicious 12-07-2006 02:20 AM
