Yeah, and it's free. You can save your files as Microsoft Office .doc files if you need to open it on a computer somewhere else, too. That's what I do for school.

be aware that much formatting done in open office often gets left at the door when you load the documents into word etc.

Be aware that Microsoft announced today that they're going to have a WGA checker for Office starting the end of this month. You're better off with Open Office.

We hardly ever use it, but others do and that's why we need it. I use InDesign for all my word documents.
