Poll: Who won't be Ted?
 

sorry for the delays and false starts. but now we're really moving! this is the first in a series of daily polls that will determine who will be Ted. we will determine that by eliminating one candidate per poll, and there will be a new poll each day. so vote for the person you would like to eliminate from consideration for Ted. this is going to be awesome !

we had a thread where anyone could nominate someone or nominate themselves, and there was a bit of discussion around that. i said that it made more sense to me personally to rename someone who is relatively new, but posts a lot. it doesn't seem quite right to me to rename someone who's been here a long time (dead being a possible exception). but that's just my view, and i went with the nominees. grumble asked to be removed cause his heart wasn't in it, and zorgon stepped up in his place.

hmm interesting, i wish i had been a part of that. i think duovamp best fits your description of someone new who posts a lot, but i guess the actual naming is a long way off so i won't get ahead.

yeah duovamp was the one i thought of at first, and i still think he's one of the best candidates. i like dead because of the humor angle. however coolasicecream seems to want it, and that counts for something to me. i'm way undecided, and i think the elimination process will ultimately be a better way of doing this

I suppose I'd make an alright Ted, though I'm not very Ted-like. I lack some very important Ted skills, but I could work on it.

Ted, to me, is more of a plain guy. I'm really the kind of jerk-ass who just rubs people the wrong way 90% of the time, unlike Ted, who logically never rubs anything.

i don't think that there is a rigidly defined Ted-shaped mould that we just pour the elected person into, forcing them to take that specific shape. the person elected will end up defining the qualities of Ted i think

Yeah, I like that. The person won't fit Ted, but rather the title of Ted will adapt to the person.

on what criteria are we expected to base our votes if not the candidates' intrinsic Tedliness? this seems a rather arbitrary decision.
