Thank God RE:Liquid on planes

I just got this email from Delta:

------------------------------

You have an upcoming flight with us, so we'd like to update you on recent changes to airport security guidelines.

Effective September 26, the Transportation Security Administration has adjusted its ban on liquids, aerosols and gels.

You may now carry on travel-size toiletries (three ounces or less) in one-quart, plastic, zip-top bags. These bags must be removed from carry-on luggage and screened separately at security checkpoints.
After clearing security, beverages and other items purchased in the secure boarding area such as duty-free items may be brought onboard.
In addition, the following substances in amounts exceeding three ounces must be declared at checkpoints for additional screening:

Baby formula
Liquid medications
Diabetic glucose treatments
Also, please review the current guidelines for packing checked baggage. And remember to label your luggage — inside and out — with your current contact information.

Visit delta.com/travelupdates for the latest information on Delta flights. And thank you for your cooperation and patience!

thank god, although the whole screening separately thing is going to blow. ugh.

yeah so everywhere you go is going to have a walmizzle. if i ever forget anything, that calms me down. my mom always stressed out so bad when we took trips anywhere and my dad goes "hey. they'll have a walmart when we get there. we're not traveling to (some foreign place with no walmart)"
i sometimes leave shampoo at places like my mommas house and the boys house because if i use pantene for too long my hair gets tangly/breaky.

but why would you have to check in your diabetic supplies! i wonder if they let you carryon a syringe to inject yourself if you're on long flights.

ammy 09-26-2006 08:34 PM

NO MORE THAN THREE OZ OF SHAAAAAMPPOO!!!!! SUDZ ON A PLANEE!!!

bardy 09-26-2006 08:34 PM

well when you are going places where you wont have a car readily available driving to walmart is pretty annoying.

and also its retarded that you cant take drinks from the terminal into the plane.

although it is still annoying that I can't take my huge bottle of contact solution onto the plane so I can take my contacts out and actually be able to sleep.

kristin xp 09-26-2006 08:37 PM

you can buy a bunch of small plastic bottles to put it in can'tyou?
you could just pour it straight into the ziploc haha! that would be hilarious!

bardy 09-26-2006 08:39 PM

yeah I should really remember to do that. It's one of those things I don't remember until I'm packing at midnight the night before.

kristin xp 09-26-2006 08:48 PM

it just seems funny to me picturing someone buying like 34 of those and putting all the liquids they wanted to take in the smallest bottle size

Travis Meeks 09-26-2006 09:13 PM

Oh my GOD!!!! I can totally see that!!!!!!!!!!

hey bardy, anything else happen today? get gas or anything?

You can take drinks from the terminal.

And instead of taking your huge bottle, buy the travel size versions which are OK by TSA.

if bardy can't bring her own shampoo, the terrorists win

bardy 09-26-2006 09:35 PM

yes. thank god

i'll admit that in the past i've been skeptical about the existence of a divine creator but i have to say this really tips the scales in his favour. praise

But if I bring 4 3oz. bottles of shampoo? Is that ok?

bardy 09-27-2006 10:06 AM

I guess so

Luke de Spa 09-27-2006 10:18 AM

the last three times i've been on a plane i've walked on with a pocketknife. it's part of a keyring i received as a gift and i'd never really thought about it in the past; i've only used it to open bottles of beer. i only remembered about the knife after a security guard told me to wait a moment when i was going through the security entrance at the beehive (main building of executive branch of nz government) a few days ago. but he only wanted to know if i knew where i was going (it was late) and gave me back my keys/wallet/phone without a second thought

Orenthal James 09-27-2006 10:21 AM

you would make the perfect terrorist.

Luke de Spa 09-27-2006 10:24 AM

yeah. nobody suspects the guy in the chocolate-smeared walrus costume

I have a can of mace of my keychain. I didn't even think about it until they took my carryon to send it through the scanner a second time. But, no, everything was fine. I flew from DC to NYC and back without any security people saying anything about it.

Luke de Spa 09-27-2006 10:32 AM

further proof that the whole thing is a complete farce

i'll tell you what, it's financed by the knife & aerosol industries. and now the toiletries companies are muscling in on the act
