why are canadian troops in afghanistan?

hmm ho.

a bunch of young guys headed there were at the titty bar so i played all the shitty music they liked. my boss ordered a feast and gave them free drinks. A good time had by all. sorta sad that some of them maybe killed shortly. i wish the strippers would have fucked them.

one guy said that in canada we dont report about the military so much as the states because it would comprimise there safety or something. i was barely aware that canadians were over there.

Are you Canadian?

How can you not have been aware that there are Canadians over there? Being that ignorant should preclude you from ever posting on this board.

I mean, fuck.... there's stuff on the news every night, like every six out of seven nights, and there's always huge headlines whenever any of them are attacked or killed. Hell, it's probably the biggest debate in Canadian politics right now.

I'm suprised you were able to spell Afghanistan correctly.

if you're not Canadian, then this is all a bit more understandable.

I think I'll go out on a limb and say they are there trying to find the al Qaida leader, named Osama bin Laden, who leads one of the world's strongest global terrorist networks.

I mean, that's just a hunch, but I bet it's close. I doubt they're there for the landscape and women.

the thread title is a legitimate question that really should have deserved more than the one day of debate that it got in our house of commons. Stephen Harper really fubared that one. on the other hand, Jack Layton should be disgusted with himself for suggesting that all of the troops should be immediately pulled out of Afghanistan.

Canadian troops certainly have their place over there, but their role should be a little more clearly defined, and should be concentrated more on rebuilding and humanitarian efforts, not Taliban hunting. the way to get the people of the nation onside is to win their hearts, not kill their relatives.

Actually, I'm very pleased Canadian troops are on the ground. Perhaps with their help we can find bin Laden himself and begin to slow the spread of the global "jihadist movement."

I mean, hell, if Canadian soldiers hadn't been with us in WWII Hitler's regime would have lasted much longer. Without Canada landing on the beach in Normandy first (and in the accurate locations that the U.S. couldn't do) and taking out the first wave of defense, who knows what would have occured.
