uh, if the first 5 seconds of the record sound anything like the first 5 seconds of "i believe in a thing called love," i think we're in good shape

i don't even like that song much, but it rocks at the beginning big time

ratking17 08-15-2006 03:18 PM

Dead, how is it that they are saying machina 2 is not an album? We know corgan wanted a double disk and that is where machina 2 came from...

I heard that they already fired Eric Avery because of negotiations issues. If I had more info I would let you know. Also, he has moved out of Courtney's house to another rented house over in the Valley....Sierra lives out there and he will be closer to the studio and to her. He met Sierra though Linda Perry who is producing Courtney's album. She's supposed to be really nice and talented. So.....there you go.

mpp 08-15-2006 03:20 PM

machina was released on February 29, 2000

ratking17 08-15-2006 03:22 PM

Harrow, you seem to know all things Corgan right now. Can you hook us up with some pics? If you know avery is out, then who is in?

Cherub Angel 08-15-2006 03:24 PM

Interesting but not really a surprising choice when you think about it. This guy produced Cheap Trick and Queen, thos are some bands Corgan is a fan of. Hell, this producer was the guy who produced fucking "Bohemian Rhapsody", I'm happy.

benjamin619 08-15-2006 03:30 PM

good news. everything i've heard about the new records makes it seem like it's aiming for popularity.

Kahlo 08-15-2006 03:34 PM

they are in a studio somewhere. hoorah.

davin 08-15-2006 03:35 PM

most of the machina2 stuff was recorded around the same time as machina1, (see: http://www.spfc.org/band/studio.html?session_id=43 and http://www.spfc.org/band/studio.html?session_id=44) so if you agree that they are referring to the last time they were in the studio, not including the Untitled and "finishing touches" 2000 sessions for Machina2 material, then it almost makes sense.

:erm: ok, you're right...it makes no sense.

Ya, that's really great. Oh wait, have you heard the Zwan album? I think that was the same idea. Billy can't write for shit if he's actually trying, or it just doesn't come out very cohesive. Zwan and his solo album are good examples. I personally think both endeavors offered some great music, but a lot of it seems forced.

I think he is going back to his old ways for this album. Jimmy said they had already written 40 songs and that was back in February. I think the process that works is write a shitload of songs, and put together the ones that work the best, like with MCIS. I suppose Zwan did the same thing and most of the good songs didn't end up on the album, so I guess it could go either way.

that would be cool.
also, im sure billy will poke his nose into producing it

wHATcOLOR 08-15-2006 04:31 PM

i feel that paul hem would make a strong replacement for eric avery. he could really fill up any hole in their lineup

Kahlo, spill the beans and I'll mail you naked autographed Sean Bean pics.

ZEROpumpkins 08-15-2006 04:42 PM

1999? Probably some clue...unless referring to recording but I think we already stamped out that fire.

Cool As Ice Cream 08-15-2006 04:48 PM

maybe machina was never a pumpkins album and it's all part of the mystery and the album they were going to release back in 1999 is still to be released!!!

i mean, yeah, way to go, rtb.

40 tracks is a helluva lot to be working on for a regular length album. Does this mean we have TAFH part 2 to look forward to? Maybe even a follow up to Pastichio Medley...

First off, Roy Thomas Baker has produced some of the greatest classic rock albums of all time including Queen's epic "A Night At The Opera" however he also produced arguably the worst Yes album in their entire discography in "Tormato".
Rick Wakeman himself has said that while Tormato indeed had potential, Yes never got the best out of some of the material, while Steve Howe admitted that Yes were unsure of themselves musically at the time.

That kind of sucks because it might just mean that Roy doesn't exactly bring out all the potential a certain song may have.

HOWEVER...
The GREAT part of this news is it seems like the Pumpkins are going for a classic rock vibe.
Which makes me 10 million times more excited for this.

I wouldn't blame him for the mess of Tormato - they had lots of problems with regards to artistic direction and personality clashes at this time. Going for the One was the last great Yes album, before they devolved into quasi pop-rock mediocrity.

OK, I'm alarmed at some of the bands he's worked with - the ghastley T'Pau being a prime example - but no producer can turn horse-shit into gold dust.

harrow 08-15-2006 05:40 PM

I don't know who is in....sorry.
