The National League East is fucking horrible

Win No. 11 in a row is fun.

Listening to a handful of assholes chant "Pe-dro" "Pe-dro" after Petey got bombed is not.

Travis Meeks 06-28-2006 08:12 PM

hey Huck, you posting from your raft?

Nate the Grate 06-28-2006 08:14 PM

I can GUARANTEE that sportscenter will focus on the Pe-dro chant, even if it was echoed by some 100 idiots (which it clearly was). the last two days have been Pedro lovefests. when you step between those white lines, though, you're the enemy.

sppunk 06-28-2006 08:15 PM

The river flood level was downgraded six feet - I won't be able to get to work, but my house will be untouched (of course, the '72 flood of 33 feet didn't affect this area either, so I'm always going to be fine it turns out).

God bless FEMA maps I received today!

It's split down the middle, and you know that.

The recent addition of Tino Martinez baffles me: He brings absolutely nothing to the table. Of course, neither does Steve Phillips so hey, who cares! :)

what

first of all the website is ridiculously populated by Sox fans. you know this.

then i turn on baseball tonight and see gammons and ravetch giving each other handjobs under the desk after ortiz hits a walkoff single

dan o'brien doing play by play?

seriously, the only espn regular who is a yankee fan is linda cohn

sppunk 06-28-2006 09:14 PM

Buster Olney and Chris Berman say hello.

MusicMan4 06-28-2006 09:16 PM

suck a fucking giant prick

Nate the Grate 06-28-2006 09:19 PM

chris berman is a huge red sox fan

buster olney, on the other hand...

but my point wasn't that ESNP is biased against the Red Sox (honestly, I think they're as unbiased as they can be. they ballwash jeter and ortiz just the same), but rather that all the mediots will latch onto whatever story makes the most waves, regardless of whether it was actually reflective of anything.

Olney covered the team but he's not a Yankee fan. He grew up in New England following the Red Sox

Also the Mets are a better team than the Red Sox

yup, I am basing my opinion off these two games. well, actually off these last 11 games. the sox are steamrolling over teams right now. their offense has skyrocketed to second in the league now (when it was supposed to be a down year offensively), while our defense remains best in baseball. give us one more middle reliever (or if hansen and delcarmen start to bring it together, a reliable 5th starter), and I think we're the best team in baseball.

not as bad as the NL central.

holy momma jesus that's a terrible terrible terrible division. the brewers just might win the thing if they get healthy.

Well, I think the Mets being the best NL team push it over the edge - Atlanta and Philadelphia are God-awful - the Pirates are the worst team in baseball though so you might be on to something.

Not if they leave their ace to pitch the ninth with a 6 run lead at 115 pitches so he can get hit in the pitching arm. Smart fucking move.

We ended up buying a round for the Mets fans in the bar after the sixth or seventh when one guy was just laid out on the table in dejection. But it was really fun to cheer Pedro, if not in Fenway, then in a bar full of Sox fans.

Also, I think it is hilarious that Yankee fans feel every network is biased towards the Sox. (Like ESPN, who ran a Red Sox story for like 10 straight days after the World Series and then ran a "Omigod, why wont' they go away!" piece on the 11th day...)

These aren't the real Red Sox, but it's nice to see a ton of runs that aren't just Manny and Papi. My friends and I have decided that is because they all love Gabe Kapler so hard, they are scoring as fast as possible so he can play.

FearFactory 06-28-2006 10:37 PM

what the fuck are you guys talking about? those espn fuckwads have got their head so far up the yankees asses that alex rodriguez has been walking around for a month with a tongue dangling out of the tip of his penis.. and it's not jeter or giambi's this time.

I can't think of a single person working for espn that I wouldn't wish a slow, painful death upon. they're fucking TERRIBLE. I'd rather have another chunk of my intestines taken out than listen to joe morgan and jon miller botch another ballgame. just give us a mic on the field and shut the fuck up.

and erin andrews looks like a man. I wish they'd stop showing her mug on the tv.

Sepiae 06-28-2006 10:46 PM

Oh, and I meant it was hilarious because Sox fans and Yankees fans react like they are seeing two different broadcasts. Not because I think all networks are up the Yankees' butts. Mostly that is just Tim "Look at his calm eyes" McCarver.

FearFactory 06-28-2006 10:50 PM

fuck that. the yankees are media darlings. I hope steinbrenner chokes to death on payrod's cock. that'll give those media shitheads something good to write about.

SO the nightly "Alex Rodriguez is a big fat choker" reports that ignore a lot of statistics are all out of love I suppose

of course you think that. You're not ever unbiased or rational.

The Red Sox are lucky to be in first place. Look at their pythagorean record.

Boston is 4 winsa bove their statistical record.
NYA is -1 against their statistical record.
Tor is exactly at their projected record.

ESPN is biased against any team not named Red Sox or Yankees. Believe it or not, there are 28 other teams out there, including the defending world champion.

You're right and wrong

ESPN spends too much time covering the Red Sox and Yankees, but the Sox coverage is positive while the nightly A-Rod chokes/specials entitled "Are the Yankees Bad for Baseball"? Yes, they spend too many hours on the Yankees, but it's not biased towards, it's biased against.

Read ESPN's Page 2 sometime.
