My Grandma's getting remarried, and I'm spending my travel summer money to go

Yeah, it's a bit weird but I'm happy for her. She's young for a grandma and has been widowed for eight years. Granted, they met just in January online! :erm: And hardly any of us know him, but my parents did a background check on him and he's fine.

So anyway, my summer travel plans are out the window now since this last minute ticket cost me so much. I hate to think, "Well, my gift is my being there" which is kind of shitty, but I am spending an awful lot of money to go and everyone else is pretty much spending little to no money to be there. Don't you think I should be exempt from getting a nice gift? A card with a gift certifcate, maybe, but a gift gift?

Does it matter?! Anywhere nowadays is expensive thanks to Bush and a bunch of other idiots. It's in Nashville (for some reason, my nomadic family has shifted to there the past few years - long story).

Your grandmother met her husband-in-spe online? How cool is that?

Aeroplane 06-27-2006 09:48 AM

Haha, well . . . I know. I'm so impressed with her. She's gone from not knowing much about technology to sending me emails with these crazy attachments (she use to send me letters from a typewriter), meets friends and obviously more special friends on-line, etc.

But I did answer. :( And if it WAS in the UK, I'd make it a real trip and stop by and say hi. You could take me to all the bars and we'd get smashed and make 'phoria history. Of course, all in celebration of my grandma's nuptials. :D

But you didn't answer my FIRST question about the gift!

ChristHimself! 06-27-2006 09:59 AM

a card with a gift certificate will be fine

if he's 80 odds as well you could get him a strap on to resolve any embarassing performance related problems

maybe a forged prescription for viagra would be more suitable??

ChristHimself! 06-27-2006 10:08 AM

if you can get prescription drugs then i think you should be getting me them

just get him a strap on and get her a blindfold, she'll never know

Yeah, at least 6 since ive been around I had alot of "Papa's" (i hate that word) eventually we just stated calling them by their first names when we got older. Actually I was talking to her last night and shes getting tired of the one she's with now lol. She's still really pretty and only 64 she still gets alot of attention and tends to drift towards men with lots of money though...

Aeroplane 06-27-2006 11:59 AM

money does help. :) so i guess you could answer better than anyone - gift? no gift?

Lola 06-27-2006 12:03 PM

Get her something small. Shes your grandma she wont care either way but you'll score points.

Mo 06-27-2006 12:03 PM

A gift would probably a nice gesture towards your nana's new husband.

Aeroplane 06-27-2006 12:09 PM

True, but I've already spent more money than everyone else. Oh well, I'll probably get them a card and gift certificate for the strap-on or viagra.

Lola 06-27-2006 12:12 PM

LOL

i think no matter what you spend on transportation, at least a small gift is always very much appreciated. and since it is from you, it will be loved. i bet your grandma adores you, and everytime she looks at what you got her, it will make her happy. so put more thought into it than money.
