Tonight I want to watch "In the Mood for Love" and "2046" back to back

Am I wasting my time?

sorry to start a new thread, there's not a movie board or anything

patrick 06-26-2006 03:40 PM

yeah, total waste of time

patrick 06-26-2006 03:41 PM

but i'm sure you have all sorts of film professors and fellow film students who could tell you that

twice 06-26-2006 03:48 PM

although i think it's imperative you see in the mood before watching 2046 it isn't necessarily a sequal in the straight sense of the word. 2046 is a film in itself about chow's heartbreak and various meetings and spats with lovers(all very nonlinear which to most = CONFUSION). however, i don't think you feel the weight of his heartbreak and how it has changed him in 2046 without understanding what initially caused it. which is where itmfl comes in. they're both gorgeous fucking movies and the best i've seen since i can remember.

so no turalyon. not a waste of time.

now this implies that you liked ITMFL enough to go on to watch 2046 right? so is the first one good and the second a letdown or what?

patrick 06-26-2006 03:54 PM

it means you're a douchebag, in the mood for love is one of the best movies of this century so far, 2046 is pretty great, go back to school and realize that there's another film in the trilogy, twice is beautiful in everything she does and touches and you're a douchebag

that's what it implies

TuralyonW3 06-26-2006 03:58 PM

Well, uh.....your hat is really gay so I win.

Ah dammit

i've seen 2046 twice in theaters and i have in the mood for love from netflix. according to my friend who's a math major at caltech (obviously he's much smarter than all of us), in the mood for love is better. my film and media studies major girlfriend concurs, i think. that is all i have to contribute.

twice 06-26-2006 04:44 PM

aw well if anything i'm glad things will gel this time around. you have that to look forward to!

smashingjj 06-26-2006 05:03 PM

i have no patience for movies like 2046

TuralyonW3 06-26-2006 06:03 PM

btw all 3 in the trilogy are on torrentspy (public tracker, no ratio worries) for those interested.

Travis Meeks 06-26-2006 06:06 PM

I'm going to watch Crash for the first time

smashingjj 06-26-2006 06:08 PM

Would very much like to see Crash, History of Violence is awesome. opinions on Crash?

TuralyonW3 06-26-2006 06:11 PM

Crash is awful. Racism 101 with bad acting. History of Violence is weird and brilliant, one of Cronenberg's best.

Travis Meeks 06-26-2006 06:12 PM

History of violence is ok. just ok

Luke de Spa 06-26-2006 06:28 PM

i thought it was pretty dumb
