oddly enough, Jodi's prediction on santa fe was pretty much wrong. the true town square is just a church, shops, and museums. the restaurants are all just off the town square. and they are all really really overpriced. the best bang for your buck is just outside of downtown and up in the mountain towns like chimayo.
