I feel like the biggest loser ever

so my younger brother just got a job on a large boat and will be on this boat, which is a large floating warehouse for american soldiers, in the middle east for the next 4 months.

well he and i arranged for him to fly out from boston tonight to visit me this weekend, so he could have a great time before starting his new job.

well, i got sick this week, laryngitis, and was completely unable to speak, and had a serious fever too. i was very concerned that he could get sick from me, and i did not want to risk him being unable to speak the first week of his new job, so i had him postpone the visit.

an additional consideration was the fact that i couldn't speak one single word, and that'd have made for a less than ideal weekend.

so we are both kind of bummed out that he doesn't get to come out and visit and have a fun time before the job, as we were both very much looking forward to it. but it seemed to make the most sense to play it safe.

well today, out of nowhere, i am able to talk again. granted, it is a little hoarse, and probably would worsen if i talked continually, but i'm sitting here having a hard time not feeling foolish for having him cancel the trip. the weather here is incredible, i'm in mostly great spirits, aside for the fact that he's not coming. in other words, it sounds like pretty much an ideal time for him to come visit.

so im really angry about all this and having a hard time not beating myself up about it. wtf. alsdkjfas;lfdkja;ldkjf

we have tentatively agreed that this summer, when he is done with the job, he will come out and visit, bu ti still can't help feel like i let him down in some way. :(

Its cool J. Brothers understand and you did the best thing possible with what you have. Don't feel bad, i'm sure he isn't angry about it.

automata 02-09-2006 09:22 PM

Hey man, dont feel too bad, you didnt know you would get better by now.

Toby 02-09-2006 09:23 PM

i wish my younger bro and i had a cool little relationship like that.

Luke de Spa 02-09-2006 09:23 PM

you're probably still contagious anyway

go cough on strangers and you'll feel better in no time

wHATcOLOR 02-09-2006 09:23 PM

well thanks dudes for being supportive. what i'm going to do is try to plan the most over the top weekend ever for when he comes and visits this summer. i'm already thinking up various ideas..

I'm interested in your idea of "over the top".

wHATcOLOR 02-09-2006 09:25 PM

well for this weekend, i had found him a sexy 19 yr old to fuck (friend of a girl i met and tagged), but my friend ended up fucking her last weekend

Esty 02-09-2006 09:26 PM

Damn, maybe its a good thing he didn't come this weekend.

we used to have a VERY rocky relationship, he was completely antagonistic for years, and for some reason, i never physically fought him. i fought my older brother all the time. but i never hit the littler one. one night, in highschool, after i took a shower, he laid out thumbtacks upside down in my doorway, so that when i walked into my room barefoot, my soggy, soft feet were easily pierced by the tacks. that sucked. also he always called me gay and tried to publically humiliate me all the time, successfully.

then he got into a lot of trouble wiht booze and the law, and was missing for a long time, and came to me when he was in some trouble, and he's been steadily growing up since, he graduated from a maratime academy this summer, i was real proud, and so were my parents. it was pretty awesome

he's 5 years younger than i am and i haven't really seen him much in the last 7 years...he was only 13 when i moved away and he's not the kid i knew back then...

Esty 02-09-2006 09:30 PM

So whats stopping you from being a cool older bro from far away?

sounds a lot like my bro...he's been fucked up with drugs for the last 5 years. He called me a few weeks back to tell me that he was living in a hippie community and might drop into memphis sometime.

wHATcOLOR 02-09-2006 09:31 PM

who's older, esty or futureboy?

Esty 02-09-2006 09:31 PM

Thats a nice story j. I think it should give Toby hope that he and his brother can still have a close connection.

i really, really don't have a clue. if i were to guess, it'd be like flipping a coin.

sppunk 02-09-2006 09:33 PM

You were looking out for his best interest. No worries there.

Karl Connor 02-09-2006 09:33 PM

don't fret man. your brother's there with you in spirit

Toby 02-09-2006 09:33 PM

i do hope that one day when my brother grows up we can have a great relationship...i guess he's still young and will (hopefully) grow out of this behaviour.

11 months and 30 days is pretty close to 2 years...

for some reason I thought he was older, but I would have had to flip a coin too.

FearFactory 02-10-2006 05:49 PM

hey, at least your little brother isn't a shit-talking redneck, nu-metal listening douche.

Rockin' Cherub 02-10-2006 05:53 PM
