tootsie 08-28-2005 12:55 AM

yup, but im not incredibly attached to it in that i generally LOVE shipping and i will ship anyone (i mean anyone, i read a hilarious fic once between ginny and the squid in the lake) other than ron/hermione and ginny/harry.

wtf, you won't support the two that are canon?

spandexjesus 08-28-2005 01:03 AM

nope, i pretty much hate all the weasleys (except for fred and george) with an unholy passion.

so i dont want 2 characters that i lurve to end up with a weasley.

tootsie 08-28-2005 01:05 AM

neville/luna is very cute, JKR shot that one down though on her site, doesnt stop me from liking it though. i also love harry/luna and occasionally felt some tenderness for ron/luna in canon.

Mayfuck 08-28-2005 01:05 AM

whats canon? who's weasley?

c'mon please tell me?

i hate bill and charlie and (duh) percy, and i'm not not fond of mr. and mrs. weasley, but how can you hate ron and ginny?

HOW?

Mayfuck 08-28-2005 01:10 AM

i want to be a shipper now. what do i have to do?

i really cant express it better than this essay. its long, but it reflects every iota of my hate for ron.

ginny is the most pathetic excuse for a mary sue i have ever seen in all my life, HBP was rife with it - if i had to read one more section about her long, luxurious hair, i was going to vomit. absolutely no buildup to harry/ginny. thats the saddest relationship ive yet to see in the books.

ron/hermione at least had more backstory. some people seem to believe that love is based on bickering and vitriol (i certainly dont) but SOME PEOPLE (mainly 4th graders and george lucas) DO so i guess i could see that one coming. h/g has no basis other than she was pretty, good at quidditch, and he saved her in book 2. i could easily have liked that pairing if there would have been some fucking buildup or backstory, if harry's "love" for her was self-actualised and didnt seem to be based on the monster in harrys pants, oops i mean chest.

i agree that there should have been much more developement with h/g, but i had been waiting and waiting for it to happen for a long time. it was pretty damned sudden how they got together (not to mention odd, monster in his chest? wtf. retarded.)

and i think a lot of people were waiting for it, so maybe she felt like she didnt have to give it a proper write up? i dunno, i guess in that case im glad harry didnt end up with anyone i really wanted him to because id have been sorely disappointed if she'd written it as she did with ginny.

hbp had a great plot, but the romance aspects were strange and disappointing to me. oh well. HP is not a romance, sometimes i forget that ;)

all that romance shit was like a soap opera. ron and lavender? what the crap. and i didn't think hermione would be as petty as she was when she was trying to get back at ron.

also, i don't like how jk had these other romances that lasted for a few books (krum and cho mainly) and then just completely forgets them except as an afterthought. just seems like wasted time, ya know?

this is EXACTLY my problem with HBP. i understand why she did what she did with ron - he needed to seem more desirable. but yeah, strange. and hermione had a complete character assasination in this book - hexing students? for quidditch?? not the hermione i know and love.

i agree about cho and krum, especially krum. i loved hermione and krum (as you can see from the avatar). he was the first to recognise what a fabulous gal she was. im sure any girl would choose ron (who berates her and is only marginally attractive, as well a s being a normal wizarding lad who is broke) over krum (attractive, older, dark, international quidditch star who adores her).

man we are probably the only two huge harry potter geeks on this board.

let's compare geekiness.

i've been a harry potter freak for 7 years.
i've read the first 4 books at least 15 times, the 5th one about 8, and i'm on my third readthrough of hbp.
i was second in line at the gof release party, but sadly i have lived in a secluded small town for the last two book releases and all the movie releases, so i haven't gone to the midnight releases, but i got/saw them all on the first day.

your turn.

hmm, i havent been into HP very long, i read the books after i was forced to see the movie in 2002 (i had avoided the books because i thought god how dumb, theyre freaking kids books). i havent kept track of how many times ive read the books - i dunno i more or less like the world she's created more than the actual books.

i do however, have a full hogwarts uniform. i wore it to the HBP party, and i do plan on wearing it to see GoF. its beautiful, and except for the tie (i need to buy a proper one, mine is just solid blue now), as accurate as i can possibly make it. eric loves me in the uniform!

You sick sick christians.

I have never read a Harry Potter book. I have never seen a Harry Potter film. However, back in 2001, my Nonprofit law professor decided to get creative with our final. It was all essay questions and the nonprofit organization and staff were various Harry Potter stuff/characters/terms. I was all kinds of confused.
