Yeah Rivers' songwriting prowess has really taken a Corgan like hit over the years but I thought he was back on the right track after the last album was surprisingly solid. Now it seems it's back to the same old stinkers again.

And as dramatic as Weezers demise has been, they've still always managed to put out quality first singles: Pork and Beans, If you're wondering if I want you to (I want you to), Memories ETC... But this, this shits just bottom of the barrel.

I think Weezer's precipitous decline has actually been much worse than Corgan's.

Ehhh I dunno about that. I'd say it's about equal. They were both flawless artists who kept on getting worse and worse and now fans only check out their material for a diamond in the rough.

Both bands actually have similar trajectories. Rivers used to blame the fanbase for not liking the new music in the same way that Corgan does. And even the recent releases have similarities. Weezers Everything will be alright in the end and Oceania are similar efforts... The bands clearly trying to go back to their roots to appease their dwindling fanbases.

with the exception of the teargarden songs that came out in 09/10 I don't think Corgan's music is nearly as bad.

Teargarden was such a bad experience for me just because of the anticipation and how long and drawn out it was. I think of SP 3 and I just instinctively think of Teargarden. I guess if I didn't go through that debacle I'd agree with what you're saying. Despite a few songs (Honestly, Desire, Jesus I, Camera eye, Mina loy) the finished product of Zwan and TFE was really shitty too... And then you look at Adore and Machina coming out after their legendary run and the decline seems every bit as dramatic and as drawn out as Cuomo's.

Not to shit on these artists too much though, as I still always like a couple of songs off of each release, and that's ultimately enough to keep me coming back.

I actually kind of like this song. It's dumb. It's fun.

It is growing on me a tiny bit. It's a definite attempt at fitting in with the kind of stuff that's getting airplay nowadays and the attempt appears to be a smashing success, apparently it's one of the most added songs on alternative airwaves:

I thought it was kind of funny and clever during their album Raditude when it seemed like they were being terrible and creepy on purpose- just a piss take on how hes a dude in his 40's making pop music
