Oasis made two heavily derivative but solid albums that were in the right place at the right time. As much as I loathe Bill's current persona, he is much smarter than Noel or Liam. Smashing Pumpkins were a much bigger band than Oasis globally, but not in the UK because they didn't the same broad cultural appeal.

High Flying Birds is NG trying to sound like an artist by doing what he's always done: mimicking better acts. He's out of his depth and ripping off Bowie's Black Star branding shows a lack of self-awareness only surpassed by his own fanbase.
