First Arising! show videos from the O-site, 1999, restored

These are restorations from the videos the band uploaded to the official site in 1999, shortly after the first Arising! show where Jimmy's return was revealed. The audio is a mixture of the original video audio and audience recordings. The video audio is all treble and the audience recordings are mostly all bass, so it was easy! Last time the full band was ever together... for the first time. Iconic shit.

Thanks! Really hope this full show comes with the Machine re-issue (wishful thinking)

T&T 03-02-2019 09:48 AM

this is probably what we're gonna get with the machina reissue is probably this

Corgan's Bluff 03-02-2019 11:22 AM

Not the concert in Tokyo, but the one in Seoul, South Korea, is Corgan's favorite for a live video release of the "Machina" tours:

Corgan's Bluff 03-02-2019 11:27 AM

D'arcy looked disturbing with her new botched lips...

Rairun 03-03-2019 03:56 PM

Always loved that video of Pug, thanks.

I think the best Machina video is the Universal Amphitheatre one, the night the breakup was announced (23/05).

Rocket Launcher 03-09-2019 03:41 PM

if the sound quality were only like the one from the tramps show 4/14, it would be perfect. I'm still thankful to that netphorian who shared it here on the forums a few yrs back..can't remember if it was a zomb link or mediafire or sth. like that anymore :p

Ram27 03-13-2019 09:11 PM

that tramps SBD always sounded dry to me

Do we think there's a full proshot of the detroit show? IIRC generally media only gets passes to record the first few songs of a gig? but this seems like more of an elaborate multicam setup fit to record the whole gig....but they only released 3 songs

Love that Mourning vid Rairun.

2000/10/19 Paris is a proshot which is my favorite of the tour. Amazing Porceilna. Insane tempos throughout. One of the AUD recordings has the most amazing ring and reverb on the drums

BurtSampson 06-18-2020 04:00 PM

Just rewatched that I Am One video for the first time in years and had to bump this. Holy shit what a show this was

Easily the most intense beginning of a concert I've ever been to. Hot damn that was a good day.

D’Arcy is a queen no matter what she looks like.

Billy's glissando during this era was heavenly

At 1:14:35, what does he mean when he says, "well, everybody copied our guitar sound, for sure"? I'm not aware of other albums with SD or MCIS tone. What aspect of tone is he referring to?

FoolofaTook 06-19-2020 07:39 PM

You've never heard a guitar tone influenced by the Siamese Dreams one?

Not one I think sounds like SP's tone. What are some examples?

Disco King 06-19-2020 08:22 PM

Only bands I can think of whose tone might be kinda similar are more likely to have influences in common with the Pumpkins than to simply be offshoots of them (Starflyer 59, Hum, Pedro the Lion, Catherine Wheel, Swervedriver, etc).

That's not to say that the band didn't influence a lot of bands. They did. But most of those bands they influenced didn't seem to copy their guitar tone all that closely.

Disco King 06-19-2020 08:24 PM

Like, I haven't listened to Silversun Pickups for a while, but IIRC, they use plenty of fuzz, but are also more reverby than that dry Pumpkins/Black Sabbath sound. More like they are doing MBV.

And then other artists influenced by them go in totally different directions, like My Chemical Romance and even Nelly Furtado.

BurtSampson 06-19-2020 08:40 PM

Feeder def ripped off SD but no one remembers Feeder anyway

FoolofaTook 06-19-2020 08:52 PM

Alcest's guitar sound was def influenced by SD and they are like the best band EVER.

Yeah, that's right. I just went there. Now what? Huh? That's what I thought! Run, little hobbits! Run!

Got that right.

Also my last login to this board was May of 2003. Amazed and glad to see it's still up and running.

Anyway yeah I was at that St Andrews show and never in my life have I been involved in a crowd reaction like the absolute mass pandemonium that was the first 4 tunes of that gig. I ended up seeing the band many times and they were amazing many times but gun to my head that has to be the top one for me.

Lol see you guys in 2037!

And you posted in this very thread, where I laughed at your posts, 17 years ago

man i want to see that car again

i also love that one comment where travis_wright says 'netphoria is over and done', and the fact that that was posted in 2003

myosis 06-20-2020 09:36 AM

And what's wrong with a Destiny's Child car, huh? Fuck you and your negative attitude, jimmychamberlin

Lol nice to see that you've made tons of progress after 17 years and posting on the same message board 34,000 times. I'll take this as a positive status report that your lifelong Comic Book Guy cosplay is going as planned. Anyway I won't keep you, I imagine mom is coming downstairs with PB+J with the crusts cut off and orange pop any second.

Love you!

smashingjj 06-20-2020 06:12 PM

mom says hi!

Shallowed 06-20-2020 06:29 PM

Wait a minute.

You're not really Jimmy Chamberlin at all!

Joey Goldberg 06-20-2020 11:18 PM

^ BULL shit

give me one reason a grown boy man would get on a message board, in 2003 no less (when things were still good!) & enter their username as "jimmychamberlin" when they were not, in fact, Jimmy Chamberlin?

Joey Goldberg 06-20-2020 11:19 PM

by the way Jimmy, i hope the shiny heino 2 drum tone doesn't BLOW fucking white van baby boy!
