LMA: 2008-08-08 - Davenport, IA

Well many of you guys have already downloaded a mp3 of GLOW from my recording last night and you'll agree it's no where as good as what will eventually surface, but right now I have an opportunity to furnish you guys with something to hold you over.

Because my recording will not be the end-all recording of this show and because the purpose is to just hold you all over, I will be uploading each song as I finish it in mp3. As of right now I plan on using yousendit, unless someone has a better place in mind.

Floppy Nono 08-09-2008 01:38 PM

much better. i hated glow based on the video but the bullet1979's mp3 paints it in a much better light. i've listened to it 20-30 times already i bet, something i didn't expect to ever do for a billy corgan song again.

i'm going out right now but i can't wait to get this when i get home. will you be putting this up on archive.org as well? that's a great way to get the shows out if you decide to do it.

Rickpat12 08-09-2008 02:53 PM

yeah archive.org is fantastic imo.

Bullet1979 08-09-2008 02:53 PM

i believe the live music archive requires you to upload a lossless version.

MonkeyMan 08-09-2008 03:00 PM

Eye sounds really cool. I can't wait to hear the rest.

duovamp 08-09-2008 03:06 PM

It's funny how much I like Eye but hate Orchid.

dumbest statement ever.

Daybyday 08-09-2008 03:15 PM

Thanks Bullet. I'm leaving for a new job in Arizona tomorrow - this will make a great CD for the week.

Eye sounds pretty nice. I was never a big fan of the song, but the guitars sound really good, especially during the 2nd verse.

sorry to do this to you guys but it looks like the internet is down in the entire quad city area and I have to leave for the Indiana show. I'll do what I can when I get back if no other recordings surface first.

The LMA only takes lossless uploads in FLAC formats. The system then derives lossy files from these lossless files. In other words: You can't upload lossy files.

i don't know.

i know they generate mp3s if you want them to, but i believe the original upload to the live music archive has to be lossless.
maybe this rule doesn't count for other parts of archive.org.

What is the Live Music Archive all about?

This audio archive is an online public library of live recordings available for royalty-free, no-cost public downloads. We only host material by trade-friendly artists: those who like the idea of noncommercial distribution of some or all of their live material. Live recordings are a part of our culture and might be lost in 100 years if they're not archived. We think music matters and want to preserve it for future generations.

The LMA draws strength from the members of etree.org and other online communities of music fans devoted to providing public access to high-quality digital recordings of tradable performances. Typically, recordings are made by the fans themselves. Recordings are preserved in "Lossless" archival compression formats such as Shorten or FLAC (MP3 is not Lossless) for highest quality preservation.

Patrons may download from the LMA with the understanding that the artists still hold their copyrights. All material is strictly noncommercial, both for access here and for any further distribution.
